I saw you replace only the front wheels of a skid steer. We run a lot of them. When you put new wheels on the front they are larger than the wheels on the back and since each side rotates at the same speed the size different causes a LOT more ware since one of th wheel sis always skidding. We always replace one side at a time. If the fronts are bad we pull one rear off and move it to the front.

Does the orientation of the slats make a difference? It seems like the robot would push with them and you would end up with a pile at the end as opposed to pushing across them?
@three6ohchris
2 жыл бұрын
That auto manure scraping robot for the slatted area is pretty nifty... When you were originally talking about it, all I could visualize was those systems where they have a scraper or two (that span the entire width of the slatted walkway) that are hooked to chains or cables. Then, every once in a timer in awhile the system pulls the scrapers from one side, and across to the other, making sure that the walkway is clear from any and all manure. So seeing an actual robot was really neat. Probably a pretty penny too. Lol
@luukharkink9652
2 жыл бұрын
We have a discovery to, works great as long as you let Lely make the routes, because they know exactly how to do it. In our area there are a lot of farmers that have a discovery but they did the routes themselves and the robot get’s stuck a lot and doesn’t work properly. Now they are blaming the robot for it. Oh and I recommend one with the water spray system on it, it keeps your manure from drying on hot summer days.

Suggestion to all of you farmers. Invest in some N95 mask with the valve, not for covid, but to avoid inhaling the dust and molds on the farm. Especially when handling sawdust and dried hay. So most of the beef we eat comes, I guess, from beef cattle at no more than a couple of years of age, Does beef form dairy cows go to a different market that the regular grocery store? Does it go into processed food like canned soups, stews, and chili? Summer sausage? Slim Jims? I guess you have to be pretty careful spreading bean straw to not hit the loader arms on the ceiling joists.

Looking at your set up I think a ratchet scraper that’s automated would suit your system very well. They are very common in Ireland and are designed to scrape the alley ways between cubicles and under gates too. They can be set to run at hourly intervals. I don’t think your set up would suit the robot due to all the gates it has to cross. Dairypower or Dairymaster make them. Irish companies so not sure do they sell is the U.S. But worth taking a look.
