The gmc truck was before hummers. After the first gulf war i remember seeing many train flatbeds loaded with these cool big trucks. I had an 82 gmc 2500 . loud rusty truck. It had original blue interior paint and exterior painted highway orange. So much fun for slightly more cost of a nice rc truck.

My longest build: 30+ years. Well it’s not RC but is scale static auto models and it takes a little story. Picture it. The 1990’s in rural Maine. I was an oddly thoughtful child & adolescent who frustratingly only had sporadic, temporary use of a folding card table in the living room to build. Which meant no spray paintwork, body filler, sanding or neurotic detailing for me. Brush painting only. Somehow I was smart enough to only build the chassis, drivelines and some interiors of DOZENS of models. Then I would neatly box them up and add them to my shelves in the basement to “save them for when I am an adult and have a dedicated hobby work bench.” 90’s Tamiya, Lindberg, AMT and some Revell and Monogram. Well now I am 43 and have been home again as 24/7 caregiver for my declining mother for about 5 years to keep her in her own home. Now I’m slowly working on building up an entire maker space because I’ve been building custom scx24 chassis’ for toy bodies. And the treasure trove in the basement is screaming my name…

Would be proud to have that truck in my collection. That truck brings back memories and all the funky leaking motor fluid smells. Sure do miss all my big gmcs. But all gm died untimely motor deaths. Soon to be replaced by old fords. Every old ford had an outstanding performing motor that refused to die and a kickass suspension that never failed me after years of abusive construction work.
