When Jabberwocky dirt is good, Timewarp is snowed over. Jab is better in late fall or early spring. There's just so much elevation drop that the dirt changes a lot as you get lower.

I wish I lived somewhere like this. I’m not saying we don’t have some of the best natural trails in the UK where I am but I’d give anything for the weather you guys get. This year I think we got 1 month (4 weeks consecutively) without torrential rain. As you can tell, I’m pretty depressed at the moment. Hopefully the new year brings more chances to get out and ride!

Looks like a blast! There are so many places to try but Ashland looks well worth the drive. Im in Chico Nor Cal, there are maybe 10 trail systems, at least, within easy driving distance for a day ride. Nevada City trails are SO much fun! I ride Bidwell Park regular, which can be brutal but it has some really good trails hidden away, more than you would think.

Hey Robert, good to see you with another vid out! When were you there in Ashland? I'm thinking of setting up a trip to Ashland/Klamath for a MTB trip. I expect that if it was this summer, it may have been June-ish what with the above average snowpack in 2022-23. I want to get it before it gets too hot but warm enough that the upper parts have melted out and dried out enough to ride. Thanks!

I found a job and moved to Ashland in 1996 from the Bay Area, partly for the MTB, roadbiking, hiking, and skiing right out my front door. Unfortunately, I find this video a bit disturbing regarding the irresponsible use of the trails for "bombing" downhills. This is the kind of stuff that gets MTB riding banned in areas. These trails are multi use, used by many locals and visitors for hiking, running, walking pets, enjoying nature and biking. Sadly there have been a growing number of accidents involving downhill MTBs and people...(and in friend of mines case, their 6 year old border collie was killed by an irresponsible biker) Now I would prefer NOT to see these trails barred to cyclists because at 71, I still enjoy riding them, but that's the way things are headed because of this type of bike rider behavior. "Smash, Rocketship, Pretty Rad, Send it" you use all the terms but fail to mention these are multi use trail and to be respectful and ride with caution, because otherwise bans will end up happening. By the way real men ride uphill, they don't shuttle. Try riding uphill from Lithia Park to Horn Gap across to 2060 Rd up to Bull Gap up to Mt Ashland, that's the route the "Spring Thaw" along with the Mt Ashland hill climb race (roadies vs MTBers ) used to follow depending on snow. And FYI it takes more than a bike to be a biker....ride responsibly and be respectful of our environment up here.
