there's a lot of entitlement and toxicity in this game but I'd like to share a wholesome DBD moment I had a couple days ago: it was my birthday so I changed my name to "Birthday Girl". One of the killers that night (Deathslinger) made us stand in the central room of RPD in front of the big statue and then he clicked "Happy Birthday" for me with his gun. He was a streamer so I went to his stream afterwards and he was such a nice guy and I'm glad that people like him exist and play DBD.

to be fair: Any perk can be a 'crutch' perk, it really depends on how you USE them. If you're entirely relying on perks, then they're all crutches. Because at the end of the day, how you control your survivor and the tiles in the match is what you should focus on, not how well your perks help you survive. Perks are supposed to be 'addons' in a way, that boost your skill, not GIVE you skill. It's a mistake i see a lot of survivors rely on, rather than focus on getting better at the looping, making quick decisions, etc. They run all the perks that give them second chances when they mess up, and only run those because of that. But this guy was clearly just crying over literally anything he could see, not giving constructive feedback. Good on you for not playing with your 'friend' anymore, they seemed quite frustrating.

Fractured cowshed is one of the strongest if not the strongest map in the game. So I get why he played that way, as you said. BUT you have to expect the same thing when playing survivor. Also getting 4 man slugged is the survivors fault for grouping up they can’t slug all four of you unless you make mistakes and group up. All perks are crutch that’s what they’re there for. I hate the term 2nd chance perk this is a asymmetrical game unbreakable, adrenaline, dead hard they’re the same thing as a killer running perks to regress gens it’s a chance for you to stop them from being done by running pain Rez, pop, surge, over charge, eruption, ruin, thana, gift of pain, or chase perks to help you against good loopers bam, spirit fury, enduring, and others. Both sides have perks to help them it’s part of the game.
@NotJarrod
2 жыл бұрын
Notice how you say "every perk is a crutch" but your examples dont include perks like Wake Up, Up the Ante, Ace in the Hole... Because those perks are all just as valuable/crutch perks as all the meta perks you named, right? I get why people say "every perk is a crutch" but it's extremely disingenuous to pretend like you dont know what people are talking about when they say "crutch." Maybe you don't actually know... in that case -- nobody is talking about anything but the most meta perks usually when they say "crutch perks." Maybe all perks *are* crutch, but it's so slippery and dishonest of anybody to sit and pretend that a perk like Visionary, Up the Ante, or other examples, are the same level of "crutch" as any of those other meta perks.
@thelastgamer1
2 жыл бұрын
@@NotJarrod first off all it’s funny that all the other perks you mentioned I’ve personally used to turn the tide of a game I was playing. Wake up let’s you get exits that maybe spawn to close together opened faster and a chance of escaping and it is used in most comp matches it’s also great in solo if you’re the last alive. Up the ante can be used to make the almost guaranteed kobe build taking immense pressure away from the killer and off your teammates when they don’t have to save. Ace in the hole let’s you run whatever add ons you want and can spawn great add ons from a chest up to a borrowed time bottle or way more health charges to let you heal multiple times. Visionary is great when a killer is doing a great job defending gens or a map where it’s hard to find the last gens like indoor maps. It’s not disingenuous or slippery to think people are allowed to use whatever perks they want and shouldn’t be shamed for it. Every perk has a chance to turn the tide of the game some just have a more probable chance. You can run unbreakable for 40 games and never use it but that doesn’t mean it’s not a great perk when it can change the whole game and take away pressure from the killer to totally changing the end of a game. So no all perks are “crutch perks” since you don’t have to actually bring any but the game is balanced around the fact you will run perks. Both sides have perks that gives them a chance at helping them win. And even the lower probability perks can still change a game by allowing you to maybe loop longer or keep a gen from being done long enough of you to get some pressure back. Also saying it’s “slippery and disingenuous” is you taking the game WAY to seriously. Because both sides have more frequently used perks but perks are only as good as the player using them. I have over 5400 hours in this game any perk can change the game and I’ve probably done it. This is a asymmetrical game you cant really compare perks to the other side because both sides are so vastly different.

@@thelastgamer1 except you completely missed the point of what I said so that whole essay you wrote is pointless. I'm pointing out that most people talking about crutch perks mean a specific kind of perk. That's why its slippery and disingenuous. You're ignoring the context of what people mean and taking an overly literal interpretation of "every perk is a crutch." Nowhere did I say a perk like Wake Up is useless. I said that it's obviously *not as useful* as other meta perks, which are what most people mean when they say "crutch." Really, if you arent going to pay attention to that previous point, dont even bother wasting my time with a reply. *Almost nobody is talking about a perk like Unrelenting when they are talking about crutch perks* If you continue to ignore that fact, theres really nothing that can be said further to you. I dont care at all about how much success you personally find with each of those perks, you still cant call a perk like Wake Up as useful or crutch as a perk like DH. And I never claimed that people should be "shamed" for using what perks they want. Just dont pretend like every perk is the same power level, or that you're not using a meta loadout for an easier game. If you need your crutch perks it's okay, just dont pretend like you arent using them. Hilarious though how because I have a different opinion I "take the game too seriously" Mr. Five Thousand Hours. Get off your high horse man. You're either refusing to acknowledge or just too closed minded to realize that other people might feel differently about things than you. If you can manage to read what I'm telling you and respond appropriately, then try that. I ain't rly in the mood to reply to somebody who can take me saying "not every perk is on the same power level" and respond by desperately attempting to discuss anything *except* what I said. But I'm satisfied since you agreed with me yourself anyway in your comment when you mention "Every perk has a chance to turn the tide of the game some just have a more probable chance." You even said my whole point yourself and you still act like I'm wrong 😂 Anyway, like I said, big reminder, making it super super obvious since you didnt catch it the first time: *don't bother wasting my time with an unrelated reply if you arent going to even bother addressing what I say: that not all perks are on the same level, and your "every perk is a crutch" is a short sighted and overly literal take.* if you can manage a counterargument to that point, I'd love to see your logic. Indeed. There's a roughly equal percentage of entitlement on each side, it's just that analyzing any *one* game has a much higher chance of a survivor being toxic or entitled since there are 4 chances for one of the survivors to be and only 1 chance for a killer to be. Also bear in mind that for a very long time survivor was by and far the more popular role, so more videos of that will exist simply again because it had more chances to occur. Addressing the "u always talk about survivor toxicity but not killer", I think it's also due to the fact that a lot of the survivors complains are about slugging camping and tunneling which could be essential in killer gameplay whereas survivor toxicity such as flashlight clicking is very blunt and can be very easily identified as toxicity

@FoxExcess

People talk about survivors more because there are more survivors in every match than killers. You have 4 times the chance of someone being "toxic" who's a survivor. I don't find clicking flashlights, tunneling or camping etc toxic anyways. Those are parts of the game. The only thing I would ever consider toxic is messaging people rude things after etc. Once it's outside/after the game it's a different story.
@FoxExcess
2 жыл бұрын
@@Barec76 Yes exactly, glad someone else agrees about that. I don't understand why people are so pressed over these things. Not to mention clicking flashings, pointing and crouching are also ways people use to say hi, or just in general try to get your attention for innocent reasons as well. And nutty people already mad at the game can misread things sometimes. Like yesterday I did the "come here" motion, crouched twice and pointed, wasn't running or anything after (I was already clear to get the gates if i took a hit anyways)..killer was pissed about it, and I was literally just trying to show him where my boon totem was so he could get points for kicking it. People who are toxic assume the worst about everyone else I'm pretty sure is a large part of the problem. When survivors crouch a couple times, point somewhere and aren't even running from me.. I assume they're trying to tell me something, not being cheeky.
@Ponymedic104

Survivors complains are about tunneling, slugging, camping, killer power and perks. Killers complains are about survivor perks, looping, swf, flashlight clicking, and tbags. Also, there are more survivors who play this game than killers. Yes there’s toxicity on both sides, but it’s a more likely to find survivors complaining more than killers (survivor que times are fast, meaning there aren’t enough killers who play this game). These shouldn’t be considered toxic. What’s toxic is having to take it so personal that they message/dm you something rude, hateful, etc.

I play Killer first and foremost. The farm is big, true. However, Killers are faster than survivors and, since I like to side with style over substance in this game, Leatherface fits perfectly in this map because it reminds me of his iconic film, whether I hook all or none. I personally don’t like to camp and tunnel. Given how long I have to wait to match, I’d rather chase as many as I can. A camped survivor is at least one generator popping unsupervised. So, I like to spread the panic by chasing all over the place. Get them nervous, make mistakes. As for this streamer… we as a society need to stop the deification of these people. It is unsettling to know that an unhinged and immature person holds sway over thousands of impressionable young viewers who will look up to this ignominious display as conduct to be applauded and replicated.

I actually on the official forums made a thread "Those who DC on purpose, why do you do it?" and I got a TON of answers, and pretty much this is the answer. They do it because they don't think the killer deserves a 4K. When someone DCs, it's a 0 for killer and a 0 for that survivor. So yea, correct me if I am wrong cause I am bad at math, but my MMR doesn't go down, and it doesn't go up because +0 and -0 from 0 still equal 0. How is that a bad thing? Sure, a 4K is nice cause then you will get more skilled survivors next game, and that makes for a more fun game in theory, but... how are you punishing me by not raising my MMR? If anything, please. Disconnect more often. I am a Legion main and nothing makes me laugh more than survivors DCing to deny me the 4K. I already got a 3K dude. You're doing me a favor by not raising my MMR as much.

I think any amount of leaving a survivor on the ground over, say, 2 or 3 seconds, could count as slugging, but slugging isn't toxic or BM or anything like that. It's a strategy just as much as tunneling or camping, and it's all meant to put pressure on survivors. So, in my eyes, the Huntress did kind of slug, but she didn't do anything wrong either.

Since this guy seems so certain that maps determine his entire game, I want to share two matches I had recently, both of which were influenced by the map I was on. 1: I’d been working towards my adept Nurse, and this was my 4th attempt (read “4th time playing Nurse”). I’d tried two flat maps with decent line of sight, and I’d lost both times, so I put my fate into the hands of the game. I was greeted with RPD. In the end, I managed to play my cards right, and even as a baby adept Nurse, I scored a win on RPD. So clearly, map isn’t everything. 2: During my adept Hag match, I was spawned into Suffocation Pit. The team played really well, and they were pumping out gens like no tomorrow. By a stroke of luck (and a little bit of pressure), they managed to forget to spread out their gens, leaving the remaining four on one confined side of the map. I was able to down and hook them all by keeping them all together. That team was excellent, and had I been on any other map, I would not have had that kind of control. So what’s the point of this? The map doesn’t make or break your game. You can use it to your advantage, of course, but just because you spawn in on Coldwind Farm, it doesn’t mean you’ve automatically lost.

I think the word "entightled" just gets banded about a shit ton, because in the past the game has been "balanced" arguably more in favour of survivors. So killer mains just use the term constantly. I play more killer but have recently started to play both sided evenly and I genuinely don't see either sides having an advantage. At the end of the day, it's a skill game. Either you have the skill to better your opponent, or you don't. Simple as. But some people can't hack the fact that they just aren't cut out to be a gamer, so blame EVERYTHING and ANYTHING.

I'm yet to learn how this game works (bought it ages ago and only just started it to run the c script or whatever Microsoft does). But I can say this much for sure. With some players it doesn't matter what you do or don't do, that salt will flow. Best not to think much of it or laugh it off even and just kill them with kindness. I'm curious how the anti camping works though. As for all these terms like slugging and tunneling I'm thoroughly confused. Like is tunneling referring to getting tunnel vision or being forced into a hallway??

I always thought “slugging” was only used for an aggressive “down and leave” gameplay, I.e. dying light slug strategy or downing and refusing to pick up, even with a nearby hook. I feel like if you’re in the ground for 15 seconds (waiting out DS) or less, then you aren’t “slugged,” you’re just in the dying state, and man, don’t you wish you had Unbreakable right now? Guess I have this man to thank for “educating” me on what slugging is. Thanks, dude! /sarcasm Edit: omg, not the “I DCed!!! It doesn’t count!!” argument. Not me thinking about a Slinger game I had on Lery’s where not one, but TWO people DCed…and one of them brought the map offering. (I’m not even a god-tier Slinger, and to my knowledge, I wasn’t even tunneling/camping/slugging, I was just kinda playing to play, since I had ranked up and didn’t have pips to lose.) Edit 2: I feel like complaining about maps can be unrelated to entitlement just because…lbr, we all have a map we hate or find difficult to play. If I load in to Red Forest and I’m playing Trickster…yeah, I’m not gonna be too pleased about that. But I’m certainly not going to then blame the survivors for it. Map RNG can be kinda unlucky at times, especially with random pallet spawns. I think it’s okay to feel like things could’ve gone better for you if you had a better map for your side (killer or survivor). The difference lies in laying sole blame at the feet of the other side. But maybe that’s just me being entitled, idk.
