Sad thing is this has happened around the whole of London. There’s no character anymore in London it’s all plastic building. I’m from Kennington in south London & they have ruined it. Gentrified it knocked down all the main bits. The people you see in Kennington will never of walked through there 90s & early 2000s it was rough looked gritty. It’s sad when you think deep about it

When a man said he want his blocks back up, I hear you! I felt that! They tore down mine as well, but if they were still up, it would be a lot different, it was for the best trust me, because if they were still up, I don’t think we would want to be in them like that. 🙏🏾👊🏾

This is a terrible mentality. Why would you want a a wretched block to be back. When the main purpose was a violation in the first place. Mental. Mind games. This is why us blacks are at the bottom of the food chain A man said the estate can’t even be unified instead it’s split That’s a joke Deep it

It's crazy you both saying that..im a Brummy and grew up in the 1980s and my sister lived on the Castle Vale Estate that had about 30 blocks back then and I have fond memories of playing in and around them..then another family member moved to the Lyndhurst Estate and once again the tower blocks were a central part of the whole estate and as I got older I lived in various places with Tower blocks like the Bromford Estate etc but today very very few of these blocks still exist or stand and I know why..the cramped conditions and crime and drug using and dealing in the blocks and they were poorly built etc so I understand why they came down and even though deep down I know its for the best..often times when I'm passing by various old estates and I look and see all the new modern style homes that replaced the blocks etc I still get a feeling of nostalgia and feel like in some ways it used to be better as it was..I don't know I guess its just me getting old and melancholia 😂

When the brother says these youths now have no respect and discipline we all agree with him and then says they are hanging around with people who don't even like them 🤯 that couldn't be more real. I remember no matter what the people around us that used to chill and hangout with always had each other's back no matter the situation. The humiliation of running away and leaving someone behind meant you were better off moving out the endz coz from that minute you got no respect like your seen as 😾 and taken as a disrespect if you try come around the mandem. Point is people used to be able to trust each other and hanged out with people they respected and if one was in the way up his people promoted him coz we all were up.
