My first thought when I watched this was the "French paradox". Why is it the French have lower incidences of heart disease and cardiovascular issues while eating so much butter and cheese? Well, those things contain K2. Goose liver paté has a ton and is a staple in most parts of France. I'm sure the resveratrol argument is at least a compliment to the MOA of keeping vessel walls elastic. I need to do some more digging on this but it's interesting and refreshing since I love red wine, cheese and paté! But keep eating those leafy greens.

You are right to be wary! Many of the raw ingredients are sourced in China. They have a bad reputation for consumer safety, especially when it comes to food and drugs. The best thing you can do is email the vitamin/ supplement company and ask where their ingredients come from, if they test for purity AND have 3rd party testing and ask for a copy of the results. If you can avoid imported ingredients all together that’s even better. I’ve done a lot of research on this and personally like Thorne, Pure Encapsulations, Nordic Naturals and Oregon’s Wild Harvest. For protein powder I like Drink Wholesome. Best of luck and stay skeptical!

@ancesthntr
Жыл бұрын
I agree with you, I am confused. On the one hand, he talks about leafy greens as being a source of K2, and on the other, he talks about natto. Natto is, for sure, the single best source of K2. Leafy greens, however, are generally considered to be a source of K1 which the body, if it has the right bacteria, can convert into K2, but we humans are usually not very good at doing that. This generally requires some kind of a fermented food, such natto, sauerkraut, or aged cheeses. In addition, he did not discuss the different types of vitamin K2. The two most common forms are the MK4 and MK7 varieties, with MK7 being generally acknowledged as being the best form for moving calcium out of soft tissues and into our bones or teeth - and with 100mcg/day as being sufficient to accomplish this goal. FYI, I take a supplement with 10,000 units of D3 and 200 mcg of K2 MK7. I think that this video would have been a lot better had it explained these things.

They replied saying that most of the Nattokinase supplements, including theirs in the market are not made from Soy but from Probiotics. Hence there is no Vitamin K in it. I wish to know for all readers of your channel, how effective are these supplements when in reality they are not made from Soy extract. Allow me to add my data point to this personally. I have been on a D3/K2 pill (5000 IU/ 80 mcg) + an additional K2 (100 mcg) for over two years. This videos recommendation is the highest level of K2 I have heard of at 500 mcg so I may need to increase my concentration of K2 now. How much calcium has been prevented from forming in my blood vessels? Who knows. How much calcium has been removed from the blood vessells and put in my bone? Who knows. The one thing I am 100% sure of is the dramatic improvement in my teeth. 61 year old male and my teeth have always been easily moved or wiggled and easily damaged but now they feel so solid and hard and it's very noticable. Your milage may vary but I know if it is doing this to my teeth and jaw bones it has to be taking it from somewhere. Throughout this time I have also watched my blood calcium levels drop every 6 months and now I'm at thge bottom threshold of the recommended level defined as "normal range". What happens if I drop below this normal range? Again, who knows. It's very strange to hear about dental health IMPROVING with age. Just wanted to let people know my experience with K2.

I agree but omega 3 and Vit k2 takes the calcium in bloodstream to the teeth and bones . Micro tears in the blood vessels - arteries muscle wall expand and contracts to keep blood pressure from rising . These micro tears heal by the deposition of cholesterol for 3 days until it is replaced by collagen . Calcium from calcium carbonate the most abundant calcium source listed as calcium supplement is ground up sea shells - this form of calcium sticks to the cholesterol temporary plug and forms arterial plaque making the lumen of the artery more narrow and less flexible ( hardening of blood vessels . Since women are not given hormone replacement with the thought that taking estrogen increases chance of ovarian / breast cancer . Estrogen also protects bone density. So women without hormone replacement are given calcium supplementation often in calcium carbonate ( calcium citrate , elemental , threonate, glycinate are high absorbable . The calcium stays in blood stream unless the Vit k2 and or omega 3 transport the blood calcium to bones and teeth . What’s dangerous is for a woman not given estrogen replacement takes calcium carbonate or any calcium without taking omega 3 or Vit K2 increases their chance for strokes and heart attacks if their dr doesn’t know about K2 or omega 3 . We know too high a blood calcium is bad for the heart - people take calcium channel blockers to lower blood pressure. If arteries are clogged the only way to force the needed blood through constricted artery openings inside the vessel is to increase blood pressure. This in turn could knock off a piece of internal plaque from inside the artery to smaller vessels - capillaries in brain and plaque could hold up the delivery of oxygen to brain cells because the hemoglobin in red blood cells in oxygenated blood that travels in arteries then capilaries - releases nutrients and oxygen . Venous capillaries contain hemoglobin that has released the oxygen which then goes to venules then veins back to the heart . Women die from strokes and heart attacks - number one killer of women is heart disease . Women have different symptoms than men do in general when having a stroke and heart attack . Women feel systemic fatigue , disorientation . Men typically have shooting pain in neck and arm on one side with feeling of weight on the chest . When men have their first heart attack 22 percent of the time the first one is fatal . For women it’s as high as 40 percent . Perhaps women since they have different symptoms than men don’t recognize it as fast as men do when having a heart attack . Perhaps that accounts for higher mortality rate . Women take more calcium too if not given hormone replacement without the omega 3 or Vit K2 . Vit D helps the calcium from the small intestine to the blood by a factor of 25 times as much calcium ingested carried to bloodstream . So if a women is taking calcium carbonate , Vit D and not taking Vit k2 and or omega 3 she is setting herself up for a higher risk of heart attack and stroke . It’s a great idea for everyone to take Vit D , Vit K2 and omega 3 ( DHA , ALA for example ) magnesium helps regulate calcium and magnesium oxide supplement - in this form only 10 percent of the magnesium is absorbed . Magnesium glycinste or citrate is a better form , these forms are absorbed much better . If you take too much sodium the anecdote is potassium . If you retain water it may be due to too much sodium in form of table salt . Potassium will help release the trapped water which will help any muscle operate efficiently since the nerve impulse supplying muscles require sodium and potsssium to propagate the impulse along the nerve that supplies muscles . If muscle cramps it’s because a loss most likely potassium .

I had my blood vessel tested in there as clean as a whistle and I'm 60, I'm sure it's due to all the fish that I eat. Being allergic to soy products I cannot do not eat Natto!!

@avader5 The bacteria by which they ferment soy beens into natto can be used on other beans too. So, if you aren't allergic to all beans, you could do your own version of natto, without soy. Natto has the advantage of giving you both K2/MK7 and nattokinase. You just have to find a way to make it eatable. I think the Japanese has some recipe for that, but including soy sauce. So something else.

D3/K2 is excellent as it takes calcium build up around your heart and goes into your bones. Had an Angiogram and Dr was amazed that I had no build up around the heart. I had a CAC calcium score of 1188 12 years ago. I’ve been taking K-2 since then, and haven’t had any heart attacks (but it’s still early in the day.). I take a K-2 from natto, and a different one from animal sources. I have no idea whether it’s responsible for my good luck, but there doesn’t seem to be much downside.

Smart man! In fact even if your risk for MI goes down due to your diligence, the Ca score usually goes up anyway as the soft plaques that didn't even show up last time will heal and stabilize with calcium added there, too! You're as good as gold if your markers (CRP, lipids, blood sugar, BP) are showing improvement to low risk levels and you're taking enough K2, D3 and Mg!

Your calcium score was a zero due to vitamin K2. Vitamin K2 deposits calcium in the bones and de-calcifies soft tissues like organs and arteries. This is why taking vitamin D3 WITH high amounts of vitamin K2 is imperative as without the vitamin K2, calcium mobilized by the vitamin D3 gets deposited in all the wrong places like organs and arteries.

Huge help for arthritis! I knew about osteocalcin, but I was clueless about Matrix GLA protein. I also know that magnesium, both internal and externally applied, mobilizes the calcium and helps clear joints and cartilage. Vitamin K2 is abundant in full fat grass fed meat and dairy. Nattokinase is frankly dangerous if you're on blood thinners but can help you get off them, it breaks down excess fibrin in the bloodstream. Thanks for posting!

Almost just as bad is that some vegetables or fruits have been selected for decades until we have no something expensive with a longer shelf life and nice appearance but bland taste and lower nutritional value.
