Pretty incredible design. I wonder why these types of systems aren’t agnostic to the software platforms. In other words; why aren’t they more like hardware that can play whatever VR Games exist regardless of the platform. As soon as I saw that this company had it’s own games I was like… “Darn.” I’ll be buying one when these platforms can run standard Xbox, Sony and Nintendo games. Someday.
@Zulushi

Totally get you! Some VR games will be always exclusive to certain platforms which is unfortunate. I think that that's what the Omni is trying to remedy by being compatible with Steam VR games, which is essentially a universal VR platform.

The concept offered by Omni is great and has a lot of potential, but unfortunately the price of $2,600 is completely prohibitive. And from what I understand, it is not compatible with other famous games and other VR glasses. If do not have Steam compatibility on PCVR in Quest 2, 3 and with games such as Contractors Showdown, Pavlov, THE WALKING D, The Walking D Saints & S. RE4 VR among others. It's going to be a disappointing launch.

I believe this omni-directional treadmill is promising. As a Meta quest 3 user, one of the most annoying issues is that you have to concern your moving area, which significantly reduces immersion. But if you choose to play still on your seat (many VR games have two navigation options, you know), the mismatch between your body movement and the movement that your vestibule sensor perceives leads to cybersickness. This treadmill found a way to compromise between the body movement and the moving area to ensure safety. I can image that embodiment and presence will be highly promoted when using it.

Some other con or non-con questions not covered in this presentation: 1. Is the warranty covered for life? Considering wear and tear. 2. The quality per vid streamed seemed around 30fps. Is it 60fps or better? 3. Cost for games? 4. Have not seen enough jumping mechanics. Considering many games have double jumps/high jumps and possibly FLYING ( Ironman Vr for example ), there may be a need for an upgraded OMNI down the road.

ALSO if it had an arm locking mechanism with a sitting platform, for possible driving sims. idk how that would work, the arm doesn't have motors to articulate late you around. Couple more versions and we'll be at Ready Player One. I do wonder if these types of systems will ever implement stuff like stairs or falling..
