I haven't been to a doctor in ten years, but started my carnivore journey 13 months ago with zero reference point of lab work. So far I have fixed my blood pressure, lost about 80 lbs., no longer have sleep apnea, I have crazy energy, no more gas or bloat, had cysts vanish, no more prediabetic symptoms, no MS issues (diagnosed with MS 16 years ago), and zero cravings for alcohol and junkfood. I couldn't do 2 flights of stairs a year ago without feeling like I was going to die, and now I can run up 8 of them without breaking a sweat or losing my breath. People 1000 years ago didn't go see a doctor, they just changed what they shoved in their face until it fixed how they feel.

Have you read professor Hilton Hotema’s body of work regarding “nutrition” at a cellular level? I have also heard from many mentors that a change in mind and consumption can often have a positive effect in the beginning no matter what significantly positive change one makes to their existence. There is much power in the intent and vision of one’s mind too! I stopped eating meat years ago and have only had positive effects from such ways. Some may use Teflon coated cookware, while some may use copper. I'm an RN. As you get older your brain needs even more cholesterol. A low-cholesterol diet is one of the causes of dementia. Secondly, LDL. My large particle LDL, the LDL usually checked, was 280, I was on the carnivore diet. My doctor wanted to put me on a statin. I argued and asked him to check my small particle LDL, He refused so I refused the statin. On my next visit, he again insisted I start a statin and again I asked for a small particle LDL lab, and he agreed. Low and behold, that number was LOW! He hasn't asked me to go on a statin ever since. The large particle LDL is not dangerous, it is soft. The small particle LDL is rock hard and is dangerous and can lead to a heart attack.

Now days many of us don't even get to see a doctor. We are given health providers. A health provider put me on statins. I kept telling her that I was getting severe body taking the statins. She gave me gabapentin for the body cramps. The cramps let up some but didn't go away. So I decided I was taking neither. On my next check up she ask how the medication was doing? Told her I had taken it to be disposed and started eating more meat and less carbs. She gave me this look. She said you really aren't qualified. I just looked at her and said I think if it is my body, I know how it is feeling better then you. Since I made the changes i feel 1000 times better then while I was being pop with pills by you.

When I went vegan I got off my medication, blood pressure normalized, everything was great. My friend pointed out, it’s not the vegan food, it’s just that you stopped eating all that junky American food. I was mad at him because I wanted veganism to be the answer. But he had a point. Now I’m going to ask: is it the same thing going on here? If you stop eating the junky American diet and start eating carnivore, and you start doing better, how do you know that it’s because of the meat and not just because you gave up Buffalo Wild Wings, Krispy Cremes, and cheeseburgers? People jump from extreme SAD to extreme vegan or carnivore diets, without stopping in the middle where IMHO is best: eat clean food, NO junk, NO processed food, NO oil, a variety of WHOLE single-ingredient foods. You do that you don’t need to join any of these extreme camps. Okay, have at me. :)

Carnivore is good short term if you want to lose weight and get healthier. However, for most people it is not sustainable, NOR is it really necessary to go to that extreme. All you have to do is cut out all processed foods and eliminate any carbohydrate food that is white in color. Sugars, cakes, candy, etc.. Exercise properly, sleep, stress management, breathing exercises, 36 hour water only fasting once every couple of weeks, etc., is a much better more sustainable option. All humans have a pancreas - so the body knows what to do with carbohydrates. However, the problem is people overindulge, don't exercise, and then wonder why they are in bad health.

People’s health is often dictated by what they are not doing, not what they are doing. Strict diets can be considered an elimination diet. I am glad some people report benefits, but I also worry how sustainable it is long term. There has been no time in our ancestral history where humans only ate meat. It is also not a sustainable lifestyle for the planet as a whole.

This analysis doesn't comport with reality. If you died tomorrow of a heart attack, nothing on the death certificate would indicate your diet or high LDL. The reality is that you are nothing more than a guinea pig, be honest. While the triglyceride numbers were horrible. The other numbers are not good. Watch out and diversify your diet at minimum. Vegetables and fruit are really good for you. Please do something else....What clogs your arteries and causes cancer is dairy products as well as simple glucose products such as rice, wheat and so on. This doesn't mean you can't eat meat but you need greens and fruit. What's your VLDL 60??? That can't be good and this man speaking doesn't mention that trigl. convert into the VLDL which are the so called "building blocks" for LDL plaque, which is indicative of heart disease and atherosclerosis and death from heart attacks. Please share that. That trigl. number wasn't good at all, but what's your VLDL now? You probably are 5 years away from a heart attack, depending on your coronary calcium score....

Start with veg ( if you are ok with them, 1kg frozen - cooked ) and lots of high meat/fat sausages. Low sugar pasta sauces are great for flavouring veg or the odd meat sauce powder will bind and flavour the veg water, and yes. They come with a few carbs but that is very moderate... change slowly away from carbs to avoid keto flu. If you make it to the loo, you can get a bag of frozen veg in the pot on the hob.... and add sausages to them at the end. Microwave can get your food gone as well.... easy, fast, no fancy skills needed. All the best on your journey! You can do it!

A year ago I was where you are. I had gained so much weight I just laid in the bed all day and read. Even taking a shower was nearing impossible as I could barely stand long enough to get through it. I live alone so I still had to feed myself so I started with eggs and ground beef patties. I would just throw the beef in the oven so I didn't have to try to stay mobile while it cooked. Then about 3 minutes before it was done I'd quickly scramble some eggs and then take it all back to bed with me. As I started losing weight showers started getting easier and I started trying to walk inside my house a little more. Eventually I could stay mobile long enough to cook a little more labor intensive meals and walk to my mailbox which is about 300ft from my house. Stuck with it and my activity grew and grew until I could cut my own grass. 140lbs down now and I feel like I can finally live my life again. Just start. Start today. You CAN do this!

One thing that was not mentioned is that doctors assume that young women who menstruate are expected at times to be iron deficient. This is false. Iron deficiency is now a major issue in pediatrics. All school age children need to be checked for iron deficiency. What do you think is causing this.? The American food Guidelines. So what if you are iron deficient you will be anemic and you can make neurotransmitters. This brain fog. I’ll predict that your hgb as a vegan was in 11ish and as a carnivore 13-14. Food for thought. I’ve had pain in my left hip and the back of my right knee for a long time and for no real reason. Seems it might have been inflammation. It’s dissipating, without doing any of the physio I was doing before. I did a cost assessment on this eating plan vs my other lifestyle, and it’s coming out as more affordable! So I went to Costco and bought a bunch of ribeyes and a whole beef tenderloin. Woohoo! Hopefully, I can stick with it. I’m doing a four-day train trip across a large part of Canada in the fall, and will stock up on many meaty things. Cheers!

This doctor is clearly not a cardiologist. He gets even the basic precepts wrong. And then, of course, he focuses on meaningless ratios. LDL-C is an independent risk variable for heart disease. It does not matter whether your ratio of cholesterol to triglycerides is low (useful only for identifying risk on a population level, not an individual patient level) or your ratio of cholesterol to HDL (something no one looks at) is low. A better test would be ApoB because risk follows that more closely than LDL-C, but in 80% of the cases the risk is the same. But in discordant situations, risk follows ApoB. The good news is that she will likely not have a problem for the next 20 years or so so he can get away with his grift without consequence. But if she dies prematurely at age 65 of a heart attack, then listening to quacks like this may not have been a wise choice.

Doctor is plain wrong about metabolic labs being for designed around the standard American diet. Ranges are based off the average population of healthy individuals with no consideration for diet. A non standard diet may skew labs and put you out of a particular reference range, but you being on a carnivore diet doesn’t now mean those results are invalid. In fact it shows that your diet may be affecting your metabolic health and changes are needed. You can be excusing bad metabolic health just because you’re on a carnavore diet, because you wouldn’t do that if you were on a high carb diet. It’s Doctors like this, that think most doctors can’t read a lab, that keeps the majority from even considering this lifestyle as healthy.

Right, it’s about foraging for food when there isn’t anything else to eat. Might come in handy at some point if society breaks down bad enough to reduce food production and ability to obtain the wonderful foods we can currently get. Although finding edible wild plants won’t keep you alive for long l would think. Who knows what the future holds for this world gone insane.

Elevated LDL is a fantastic predictor of vascular events. It'd be nice to see all of your other labs too, stuff like your CBC, renal function, and electrolyte values. It'd also be nice to see a functional comparison, maybe doing a 10k run as a vegan and then as a carnivore. But really we'd all like to know why you're consistently cutting out various food groups!? Is there a medical reason for going vegan or carnivore for you? Registered Dieticians, this is their specialty, would say that eliminating a food group from your diet without a medical reason is diagnostically disordered eating. People usually do this for control as a result of past trauma. Food for thought

Thank you for your explanations about blood work. I use to take B-12 shots every week but what I didn't know is the shots were poisoning me with cyanide (Cyanocobalamin) to which extent of damage I'll never know. So glad I switched to a carnivore diet and now my B-12 levels are great!

@@DeA-ln1vu cyan (cyanide) cobalamin. When I found out what was in them I was livid! They use cyanide to methylate it. Before carnivore I switched to methylated oral B12. Which actually all people should do because a lot of people have one variant of MTHFR.

@@DeA-ln1vu if it's cyanocobalamin. There are different forms of B12, the others are methylcobalamin (people with MTHFR need this form), hydroxocobalamin and adenosylcobalamin.

LDL through the roof and therefore likely extremely elevated apoB indicating high risk for atherosclerosis. Thanks for also showing your trig ratio was in the ideal range while vegan too!

So it's the triglycerides that are 'bad'. Interesting.
