The sample was of Melanie Safka. She was huge in the late 60s/early 70s. She was one of only 3 solo female artists to play Woodstock (the other two were Joan Baez and Janis Joplin)

I love that you’re continuing on your Ren journey. You put a lot of yourself into your reactions and it’s clear you are listening to all the lyrics. I can actually see the look on your face when you are working through some of them. It’s great.

I think death has been a huge factor in Ren's life and is why it's such a big theme in his music. Losing his friend, then thinking his health was going to kill him, addiction, contemplating suicide and now having to deal with still being here and what that entails. This is the fire that forged him, his art is gonna reflect that. We're listening to his last 15 years worth of pain, written in the midst of it, now he's on the up and up I think we'll see his art change as his life changes. Great vid as usual bud.

Ren said on his community page yesterday that it looks like stuff he’s been writing while doing the production on Sick Boi (which was written and recorded in 2022) already adds up to an album which ‘goes back to his roots. Which I think probably means more stuff like this. So maybe you’ll like that.

"Do you believe it's morning?" They are asking if you feel that you have life left to live. Do you believe your life is only just beginning, or do you feel it's coming to an end? "Im alive, so that's the last thing on my mind." Worrying about how much time we have left is a distraction from using that time. Live loud, friends.

Kso, as always I thank you for this video. I have always found you to be one of my favorite reactors, because you do not just amplify the music I like per say but you say what your honest opinions on it are, and there are times I have to nod and say okay I do not know this genre of music and I will listen to what you are saying as the more knowledgeable. JI will say I appreciate you now looking at Ren in a slightly different lense. Thank you for what you do and for the time and opinions you share with us.

Even when you don’t understand and even when speaking about your own difficulties, you always still try to show that people can make it through! I have already watched this video and “liked it”but I stumbled upon it again and had to leave a comment! Appreciate you bro! 🌻💛🙏🏽

2 girls 1 cup was not what I was expecting to hear tonight 😂, but that’s par for the course with you, and a big reason I look forward to hearing your take on Ren’s songs. Part of the message here may also relate to the fact that his best friend, when they were out drinking casually, mentioned su!c!de a week before he actually jumped off that bridge, and Ren thought he was joking in his typical dark humor kind of way. His friend tried to check himself into a mental health facility, but they wouldn’t take him because he was intoxicated. And then he was gone. So Ren has said he finds it important to not shy away from talking about this, and specifically finds it important for men to feel comfortable talking about depression and beyond, because he lost someone so important to him and has lived through the aftermath of wondering what could have been done differently. I know you think he brings it up so much, but he went through some shit when he lost his friend, and then went through the health issues of his own that left him contemplating that choice regularly. You say he needs therapy. You’re listening to his therapy. The therapists he actually went to, prescribed meds he didn’t need and caused worse mental health issues. So he’s not advocating these “thoughts” - he’s making it ok to talk about, and has been very open about his own thoughts about it and how it has affected him, and that he wants people to be able to talk about it, to reduce the taboo. See his CNN bullshit for reference.

And also, he’s NOT anti-capitalist. He’s against the way the system is set up to be a rigged game. We’re being played against each other, in a game we didn’t ask to play, and greed is winning. He’s not against the average person playing the game they were born into. He’s against the assholes who designed the game and who never play by the rules.

The one difference in regards to your felonies, and Rens depression.. is that Ren never gave his body permission to make him sick. This wasn’t something he did, it was done to him. I appreciate what you’re saying, but just make sure you understand that depression isn’t people just deciding to be sad.

Although I will say that he didn’t a actually try to equate those 2 situations. And he did absolutely say that he can’t relate because he hasn’t experienced Rens situation. It was to his attempt to illustrate his larger point.

@@petehutcheon5186 I totally understand what you’re saying and the larger point. I just know that people with depression are often told to just change their mindset. To work out, eat better food, etc. I think that Ren is speaking FOR those in a dark place, not TO them. And that will change the message. It’s uncomfortable to hear the negativity sometimes, but that’s their reality. That was my only point, and it wasn’t even meant to be a criticism as much as commentary.
