Super seal absolutely does work! As a professional auto tech - I've used every a/c sealer on the market and without question - super seal is the only product that I've ever had great success with. I once went to a seminar in which there was a complete automotive a/c system mounted on a table top for demonstration purposes, the compressor was turned by an electric motor. As the system was ran and operating normally - a guy drilled several 1/8 inch holes in various locations at the evaporator and condenser. Within seconds the system was depleted and stopped working(ozone layer be dammed I guess!) The man then added a can of super seal followed by a recharge of the system. To my amazement you could easily see the super seal material oozing from all the drilled holes then form a plug which stopped the leaks entirely. The system was topped back off and then allowed to operate for another 30 minutes. The man then scanned all the sealed holes with a leak detector both while the system was running then shut off. No leaks of any kind were detected at all! I was sold on this product from that day on and have been using it successfully for budget type repairs ever since! It truly is an amazing product!

Thank you Mr. KIlmer for your insight and expertise. I recharged the AC system in two of my cars last week. I used an O'Reilly's Auto Parts, Arctic Freeze, 134a refrigerant and stop leak. It worked on my 06' Ford Escape. I replaced the AC Compressor in this vehicle, but never evacuated the system properly, I just refilled the 134a. It did not work on my 96' Volvo 850 Turbo wagon. That vehicle has never had its AC System interrupted. I did replace the motor last year, but I did not disrupt the AC System. I believe that I should probably follow your directions and properly evacuate the system, refill it, then evaluate it for leaks. I do not like using the dye. Thank you, will try the above product after refilling and reassessing the system.

Peter datechmen those sealant cans have about 75% success rate. I used one before and it dumped only about half the can into the tire before stopping in its tracks. I assume it’s just because of the technology since I followed the instructions to a tee. It STILL fixed my leak, and I’ve been driving for a few weeks since. But not all cans are gonna work 100%. If you have TPMS sensors just don’t risk it, cause you’ll just be hoping that the product works completely as planned.

@@realfun7188 thanks for that feedback. They will only empty if the vehicle is light, or the tyre is very large or you jack the weight off the tyre. Peter datechmen Yeah, most of the sealers used today say that they are TPMS friendly. So if you want you could go ahead and give it a shot, if you don’t have any other options. Just be sure to use an air pump to put some air in immediately after using fix a flat, so you can clear out any gunk that may be stuck where it shouldn’t be

check the heater control valve and the "hot-cold" knob on the a/c controls. maybe plenum is not closing at heater core.. just a thought.
@arkansasmountainman
5 жыл бұрын
@@bigwo56 it seems to be closing. I don't hear a "clunk" but never did before. I know the compressor is working by the locking clutch turns correctly. I had a repair done to something else on the truck and it didn't lockup. I found the wire in the plug to it wasn't engaging. I fixed that and it blew cold, at least up to this year. I thought it was low on freon when it didn't come on but the pressure was ok, then I saw the wire. I rechecked the pressure and it was in the good area on the guage. If I turn it all off, I don't get any heat leaking through the vents so pretty positive the problem isn't that. Thanks for the input though. Any other ideas?
@bigwo56
5 жыл бұрын
@@arkansasmountainman if the compressor clutch is engaging, and cycling on-off, the high pressure side should go up as the low pressure side goes down. this would indicate that ccot (cycling clutch with orifice tube) system is working correctly. This is a GM vehicle, right? The ony other thing I can think of is a "cabin filter" blockage. This can cause the air to not flow thru the evap core correctly, and not allowing cold air to enter the vents.
@arkansasmountainman

@@bigwo56 it is a Chevy S10 standard cab. I will check the filter. I do have a LOT of pollen where I live. I was thinking about the valve. Isn't there some kind of filter in the line? I have Delphi Harrison V5 compressor in my car. Leak sealer plugged the compensating valve. I pulled it out and the little screen on the end was plugged. Cleaned it and closed it up. Vacuumed it and charged it up and now it’s good. I had found the leak before this and repaired it.

I've been watching Scotty's videos for the past 2 or 3 years now and he tells it like it is, the TRUTH. whether the bitter truth or not. Me? I want a good reliable, gas saving vehicle to get to A to B to C!! And a vehicle that will last A LONG TIME!! And Scotty the man!! He really is honest, he does his best. He done me right. And now I definitely going to save money for a Toyota!! I need that car in my life! Anyways, I don't want to get off track so I'll say, you've come to the right man!! 👍

Good advice. I don't use the sealer as it would plug the system. I have been using the A/C Pro with seal conditioning/lube only. That seems to get me through a season. I'll check this item out next time I need to service my AC. Thanks for the informative videos.

That's the only kind I would recommend using. I hate all that stop leak stuff because what it does is react with air to plug a hole. Well when you have to disassemble your system to replace a part guess what, air gets in there and begins to react with whatever is in that sealant oil mix, then the whole system needs a expensive labor intensive flush out before vacuuming and recharging. Also the makers of the recovery equipment say that sealant can destroy recovery equipment if we don't use a special filter between the system and recovery equipment. So I just don't ever recover the refrigerant from a vehicle I suspect has had a sealant like Scotty is talking about used in it. As far as I'm concerned once you put that junk in there and it fails to fix the problem you then need a new compressor, accumulator, reciever drier and flush everything really good to start over.

@glasshalfempty1984

Another thing to keep in mind; even during the winter, don't let it all leak out. You want to maintain a positive pressure in the system so that no air gets in. If air gets in the system then the filter drier will become saturated with moisture and will no longer be able to remove any from the system. It'll need to be replaced. A vacuum of the system will get all the moisture out but the filter drier won't be able to remove any that might somehow find it's way in and then your compressor could die prematurely.

Are used to work on AC recovery equipment. Nothing pissed me off more then finding leak sealer in the system. It destroys recovery machines! Having to tell shops that their recovery machine,that’s worth thousands of dollars, is now garbage was not a pleasant phone call. You have to pre-filter your machines now to protect them.

Actually, I'm referring to my ex-MIL, whom I once described as a "heinous toad" to a co-worker. One of my all-time best off-the-cuff one-liners. Pronounced "hay-nuss", or if you've been charged with murdering the clerk at the Sack-O-Suds store in rural Alabama, don't look for your Cousin Vinny to correct the prosecutor when he pronounces it "hi-anus". ;-)

Scotty! There is one trick I learned to keep your AC in good sealed condition is even if you’re not going to use the AC that day when you’re warming up your car put the AC on full cold but low fan I just turned it on for the first five minutes that will get the oil and stuff circulated through all your seals and keep them nice and wet and sealed.

I tried using one of these cans to charge it but I read somewhere that it may be the condenser fan? Does that make sense? Any opinion?
