Like Andy mentions, I agree it helps but I think either a "stiffer" spring or more "shaft" and shorter spring would lessen the potential backlash of the user. Pretty rad either way! First of all congrats for the mastery in many crafts, from woodworking to metal forging! I'd like to ask why this club is so sophisticated and hard to make. As far as I know trench clubs were mostly improvised, DIY weapons made by soldiers by utilizing limited material and supply. Were the German clubs provided by the army to fullfill the demands? And is it worth to make such a sophisticated one? How about the efficiency (subjective comments are welcomed since all the others crush the watermelon similarly from the point of audience's view).

Not sure about the flexibility. Might strain (overflex) the springy-thingy at the point where the inner rod ends. Same reason you need a strain-relief where a power-cord comes out of a plug. The strain-relief stretches out that point so the full bend won't be where flexible wire comes out of a solid object, but will be distributed over a half-inch, inch, or more. And I'm betting the "erratic" nature of murdering those melons is because the hit varies widely based on whether you connect with a flat, an edge, or a corner. The flat mashes, the edge cuts, and the corner pierces. Still, I wouldn't want my own melon being on the receiving end of that! 🤡🔥💯🍆💩🤡
@DiesInEveryFilm

But you misunderstand that is the exact point of these and ive actually seen some more flexible than these, however without the guide rods which I added to give better support
