It was such a great time. Got to be in Berlin that day by chance because I flew there for the Roger Waters show that happened a day later, and it was THE best coincidence of my life. Never thought I'd get to see both of my musical gods day after day

does the guy with the laptop (Nigel?) Really need to move? isn't the program keeping the beat for him? It's all just for show right? (I'm actually wondering about this)
@paulburton3025
6 жыл бұрын
This is a question that needs a much longer answer than this - everyone has their own way of playing live with software. Essentially, he'll be controlling a lot of stuff on the fly; the way things sound (adding effects, changing frequencies, etc.), bringing stuff in and out, looping things (I think he's using a kaoss pad for this, like Thom) etc. As an example of someone doing this where you can actually see what they're doing, check out what Jon Hopkins is doing here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/kqppzJ9qioKdd2k

thanks for the reply, Paul. I admit my question might be stupid, but this was kinda the answer I was looking for
@ImGriim

As someone who knows Nigel, he needs to remain in rhythm and like an earlier commenter stated they are using a kaoss pad. So he isn't just dancing he is constantly having to make a difference. Also the guy can play several instruments very well. PS. How couldn't you jig out to Thom going ham?!?
@brianwebb6794

Whether he needs to move or not, its good that he does. It adds to the performance if the performers are moving with energy. It wouldn't be right if he just stood there.

If Radiohead on and before Hail to the Thief was a person, it'd hate the relatively (relatively, ok?) tofu eating, banal, coffee table mostly (mostly, ok?) muzak that came after it. But it feels like no-one's allowed to say it because the brilliant band who wrote such classics became full on pretend social justice left wing student fingerers.
@pimposki6232

with lyrics like "it's just business, cattleprods and the imf", they weren't exactly right wingers during okc, were they? and when have they ever written songs about lgbt issues, for example? fuck out of here with the political bollocks, don't turn everything into some crusade against the snowflakes or whatever

Wait! Where is flea? And why isn't Thom working on an Atoms for Peace follow up album? AFP is possibly the best radiohead-related project I've heard since "In Rainbows"... which along with "Amok", should be hailed as a masterpiece... both are 2 of the most moving, innovative, unique, yet accessible records in history. Great upload though... its fans like you 'lordazuretwentyfive', with these kinds of uploads that enable those of us in Minnesota... the worst state in the U.S. to live, if you are a fan of Thom/Radiohead or pretty much EVERY band worth listening to (which are few and far between) these days..... because.. for a place that is famous for it's music scene like Minneapolis is etc.... Hardly any groups include us on their tour itinerary.....

This is a 'solo' tour by Thom. And yes, please, let AFP go on tour again. There is magic between those guys. Totally agree on "In Rainbows" and "Amok" ;)
