Just found this channel from AAs intro to Carlyle day. Your back catalog looks amazing. I'll be checking it all out once classes end.

Thanks as ever Nathan. I hope you will be contributing to Academic Agent’s Carlyle Day on 4th December? (Carlyle’s birthday).

Lovely to hear from you - I am always grateful for your fervent support for the channel! In answer to your question, I don't know who AA plans to have involved for Carlyle day, but whoever he selects (and there are so many fantastic people who know a lot about Carlyle) I am sure it will be brilliant.

He'd be better finding somebody who fits the mold of the Carlylian hero - that would be an interesting video!

Cheers, Nathan. In american baseball parlance, no one has a higher batting average (hits per attempt). Only morgoth has such a consistently brilliant output.

Love the analogy! I may only hit the ball once in a blue moon, but when I do it is a home run (that's baseball right???). Appreciate you tuning in and engaging pal.

Thanks pal. It is probably my best one in my view - Carlyle was such a great thinker to write about.

@@ncjhood understandable, though my favourites are probably your Tolkien videos like Saruman’s Unconstrained Vision - this is a more concise format, of course, but I love the long-form explorations. Cosy and illuminating.

To paraphrase Carlyle: aren't the truly moral always followers of Islam? ;) Thanks pal!

It’s so incredible that the Calvinists rediscovered the ancient knowledge of Orthodoxy. Repentance (metanoia) is indeed what draws us closer to God. Makes me think that Roman Catholicism is the absolute heresy.

To be fair, the counter-reformation also saw a revitalisation of the sacrament of penance, figures like Carlo Borromeo and Ignatius of Loyola emphasising the need for inner reform, confession of sin and a turning to absolute love for God, as the heart of Catholicism. The marrow of true spirituality, what you identify as the ancient knowledge of Orthodoxy, breaks through even where forces of darkness seek to quash it with stale dogmatism and hypocritical profession.

@@ncjhood hypocrisy and insincerity plagues the souls of all, in all the branches of the Church. Let’s not pretend any part of the faith is invincible to it. But when I observe 21st century popism, I can’t help but notice the missing notion of repentance, replaced by pointing a political finger at the World. What a disgrace.

@@vinniewedge I’m no Catholic, but I don’t think Catholics are particularly against the ideals of this video any more than all modern churches who have clung to the Earth.

It's interesting that KZitem doesn't show how many subscribers you have, just how many videos you've put out.

I double-checked and it transpires I needed to click a button to put the number of subs on the channel - it should be fixed now. Thanks for drawing my attention to it.
