In today’s episode it is 1826 Van Diemen’s Land, now known as Tasmania. As the arguably worst of the penal colonies, and with rush rangers running wild attacking lone farm settlers, it can be a dangerous place to be.
Of all the convicts and all the bush rangers, there is one who stands out. So evil, that a rival bush ranger gang make clear to their own victims that they are completely unrelated to Thomas Jeffries and actually refused hm admission into their criminal gang.
Before his murderous crime spree, Thomas Jeffries worked as a flogger who delighted in his job. In a 21 day period, Jeffries, murderous spree included a horrific murder of an infant child, and unspeakable acts to the mother who witnessed her child’s death. He also shot and ate one of his men.
We look at the background and some of the horrific acts of the notorious Thomas Jeffries, nicknamed the monster by the press, in today’s episode of Sinister Saturdays.
