If you come across this and can't here the music in what he's doing, you've got a lot to learn about music.

So many people hear this and think it's just "noise" what they don't realize is that it takes years and years of practice to even be half as good as Pridgen

What I’ve come to realize too late in my life as a percussionist, this is the same as playing a piano, violin, wind instrument.. is structured, with basic rules that must be mastered. This percussionist can teach and can be paid to listen to for both.

"Gospel Chops" is too limiting of a box..this is more "all around" drumming
@TheRealMusic4Life

He's much more than gospel chops. I spent most of my life in that gospel style too, and got pretty good. But even the best gospel guys wave the white flag when it comes to Thomas. He takes what we have to the next galaxy by being so fundamentally sound PLUS having a creative ear that's seemingly unlimited. Believe it or not, most gospel drummers are self taught, even in the rudiment department. Maybe a little marching band at some point, but mostly relying on talent and repetition. And at some point, they get really good, but it's good within a niche. Pridgen is just good all around. He's actually one of the drummers who made me get away from so much gospel chop stuff and really venture out into different lanes. It's the only way to really be the best you can be.

I absolutely love the work here, Id say im an alright drummer but i play casually...could sit down at a kit and play a lot of most rock, thrash, pretty alright, jazz and swing....i marvel at other peoples work and admire their talent and dedication.....and when I watch others I have a hyper soft spot for ride work....which is showcased here! :D Thomas is incredible and has worked hard to become so, I hope to continue to learn and grow while enjoying further work from this wild human being.

Yeah this is basically what younger and younger people are starting to do to music. Just a completely detached, "look what I can do" mentality. It's the product of a lack of critical thinking - which if you look at them, makes perfect sense since everything else about them is because of a lack of critical thinking.
