Great effort. Congrats. Question from a non-pro climber: If he were to fall at 12:37, would the rope break when running over the granite edge?

unlikely. it's possible, but very unlikely

It looks to me if Marco had fallen there at the anchor the rope would go sideways and out without much or any of his weight on it - all in the air. It wouldn't be like a sharp edge the rope would slide along as the force came on it. It would have been a spectacular whip though!

I also asked myself the same thing when I checked out the section. But since it the rock has no sharp edges up there, it would have just slipped out (so i guess)

@@randydewees7338 I don't know the route (and never will) but to me it looks like the rope is behind the rock. Check out HardIsEasy's collaboration with Mammut: You don't need a sharp edge to break your rope - that's why I asked...

@@drstrangelove85 I've watched those vids, all of those HisE drops are configured to damage the rope. I find that all fun and educational, but I have my own take - in the 51 years of climbing I've done, with countless falls on all kinds of gnarly rock, not once has my rope been cut. Major edit! When I wrote this response, I had not realized Marco was commenting here! So, I have deleted my yahoo speculations that were below.
