Blockbuster has since already disappeared, but fortunately The Snooty Fox, unlike some pubs, is still with us!!

The Fox pub. A great old pub, used to drink there regularly 1967-1971, when I worked at Target Motor Company. In recent years I've been in it's replacement, 'The Snooty Fox', once on a visit to Crawley and I thought it was appalling - typical of all the so-called 'improvements' to Crawley.

They demolished The Fox pub, as it stood right where the road under the 2nd bridge runs now. It was always the intention to reinstate a pub once the road widening was complete, and The Snooty Fox sits on the land behind it.

I guess the retail park wasn't there then. Can't imagine getting off the train station not seeing it. The Snooty Fox looked different too. Just so different now it's unreal!

SuperTed19021 The old pub, just called "The Fox," seen here, was demolished in the early 90's when the road was widened to accommodate the dual carriageway (and the 2nd railway bridge hollowed out through the railway embankment). It had to go as it was standing right where the new roadway was to be built. The Snooty Fox was then built as a brand new pub after completion of the road works. It opened in about 1992/93.

SuperTed19021 The petrol station and the estate agents (originally a paper shop, where I fell down a step and broke my arm as a kid) were also in the firing line, so they had to go too!! The retail park was also added in after the road widening had finished. I now live in Kent, but Three Bridges was my local station for over 40 years, as I lived in Pound Hill, about 10-15 minutes walk up the road!! The trackbed of the old Three Bridges to East Grinstead line (closed in 1967) passed close by to where I lived too. I can just about remember seeing trains run on it just before closure.
