Back to the 2023 Color Country Model Railroad Clubs open house to check out our first three garden railroads.
First up: Amy Meyers' huge backyard 1/20.3 scale narrow gauge railroad. Her husband passed away a few years ago and she tore out part of the layout to rebuild her walkway and patio but now has rebuilt the railroad and it's looking great! It's nice to see it back on the show.
Next up Dean Odenwalder's 1/29 scale standard gauge railroad. 1/29 scale runs on the same #1 gauge track, but represents standard gauge equipment. The models are LARGE, about the same size as the narrow-gauge trains in 1/20.3 scale, but in this case are more modern diesel locomotives and cars.
And finally Larry and Peggy Schnieder's classic G scale (1/20.5 scale) model railroad. Much of the equipment is LGB trains and tracks. LGB models originally represented German meter gauge trains on #1 gauge track in 1/20.5 scale. ANYWAY, it's a fun wonderful backyard layout featuring a huge mural of the western area of Saint George with Red Mountain the Pine Valley Mountains, and the low foothills of "Utah Hill" in the foreground, which tie into the railroad perfectly!
