Three reasons not to get the Speed 400. First, if you're distracted by the 40bhp on the spec sheet, the 160+kmph top speed and think this will make a tourer, rethink this. The Triumph feels strained at higher revs and is not an extremely refined engine. Plus it's small, making touring in terms of space for pillions and luggage and at higher speeds, if you're a sporty rider, both more challenging than it should have been. Second, as an extension, if you're an experienced rider, the simplicity of the power delivery not only can make the Triumph feel slightly bland, we think it'll also struggle to keep you entertained a year and a bit later. Third, if you think road presence is important and are looking for a big bike feel, the Triumph is too light in feel and too small in size to offer you that. It could easily pass off as a 250cc motorcycle, in fact.
