The global nature of EVE is something most overlook. I'm a redneck from southern USA and I've spent hours getting drunk and accomplishing real goals in the middle of the night with a bunch of German and Irish lads. Learning cultures I never would without EVE and forming bonds with these duders that go beyond race or language barriers.

I found your description of Eve as a ''real'' RPG very inspirational. I'm back after a two year absence after trying No Man's Sky and Elite: Dangerous and found they couldn't scratch the itch that Eve gives you. I started in 2004 (Eve was on sale on a disc lol) and stuck with it for many years, learning new stuff all the time. I missed scarcity and the blackout so I suppose I was lucky but when I returned my ships could fetch astronomical prices if I wished to sell them (several of which I did to pad my wallet). The most enjoyable aspect I've found as a hi-sec industrialist is that I can make hundreds of millions of ISK every week using only my alts working Planetary Management. It seems to be the one area CCP haven't nerfed (fingers crossed). If I decide to sell my soul to a nullsec corp I'm free to do it and, with CVA moving back into Providence, I just might. So yes, I'm a 19 year old character who's a carebear nowadays, but the options are still there. Thanks Ashterothi for a great inducement-to-play video.

The time training payed off as being a newbro now would be terrible. It's better than ever and getting better imo. It could be that I'm no longer in the poor tax bracket and the doors have opened for many many things. Been multiboxing hard-core since 2018 and idk, the game is the best. I think only so if you can plex yourself without stress.

About "real life" aspect of EVE. I'm from Russia, so you know...politics and stuff... Recently we had a talk from our corp leadership to share IRL contacts with corpmates that live in nearby cities/regions. "Just in case" as they said, cause its unstable times and who knows what can happen. And I'm sure if I would need to move myself and my family, I would easily find at least a dozen of places where I will find support from the people I play with. Almost no other game gives bonds this strong.

What would you suggest to get the best experience for that kind of gameplay? I'm stationed somewhere in high-sec right now, but close to low-sec. what im really facinated about when it comes to this game, is that even i only started getting serious about industry and actually "getting rich" bit over a year ago, it dident take long before i as a lonly industrialist actaully could make an quite noticable impact on the Jita marked. allso there is a huge difference in beginner experince for people that managed to get dragged stright into newbie friendly corp vs people that fly around alone for maby months before they realize what a corp actually are and how importent they are. when i joined the game, took me couple of months atleast before joining a corp, and i wasted alot of time and effort trying to figure out stuff on my own, and it was rather painfull. in comparison my corp not long ago recruited couple of people that was brand new to the game, and we could help them getting most importent skills first right away, getting them going with some better ships, startup funds and boosting their experience from the start, and kinda have them jump over the slow booring start game can be...

The ability to use in-game Currency to extend your Omega time is the SOLE reason Eve has kept me for 2 decades. My only complaint with eve is CCP's laser focus on continuing to empower alliances with extra perks others are not allowed to have; the very people who need it least get the most. This skewing promotes a dozen massive blob alliances allowing them to control everything, which I still strongly believe stifles the true potential of the game and has kept them capped for many years.

I just joined Eve as a new player on my 2n week and I can 100% agree that you are better off takeing slow and just work on skill on 2-3 toon/Acc, log in every 2-3 days do something here and there, but it a pick up and put down game when starting. I play it on the side when im Streaming my Main game or doing some work at home. I love it I will say that I wish i started sooner and just worked on skills, but even if I did not, this give me time to learn how to do all the stuff in the game..well try lol AND give me time to learn how to make ISK and farm so when i have the skills learned i can build/Buy the new toks to loos 5min later ^^ hehe

Ash, fan of your content and empyreans. Cheers! The videos that are needed to grow the community and player base are: Bite size (5 min or so) videos covering newb topics like: 1) how to clear the tutorial missions 2) how to set up your HUD screen optimally 3) ship control basics 4). Basic intro to career paths 5 min videos are clippble/ shareable and no one in eve universe is doing them. The things that keep new players from eve aren’t big questions, they’re actually really really small. Like: how do I outfit a ship that shoots? How do I shoot stuff? I know that sounds basic, but that’s what it is. The HUD is incredibly confusing and overwhelming, and little vids to help people along would be a huge help.

I have been having a lot of fun, I am approaching 30 mil skill points so its really nice being able to do lots of dif content and I have never even gotten into the pvp side of things too much. One thing that keeps me from really getting into the game is how ISK is purchasable for a very low amount of money vs. the hours of in game grinding it requires. It kills any motivation to try to earn ISK in game for me, and it being such a central part of your progress (skills, ships, items, basically everything), it’s kind of demotivating.

So how is the ganker situation nowadays? The last time I played any new corpo was almost immediately ganked to hell and back which drained a lot of new players. There was no way to grow back then because pretty much as soon as you got more than 4 members you were declared war on by multiple other corpos and were thus locked to high sec meaning the corpo couldn't grow. We even tried to organize with other new corpos to get guarded conveys going but they had the same problems and all it did was expand the war fronts and increase the new player drain even further. So after about a year of mostly no progress I just gave up and played something else instead. Sad thing is I really liked the industrial gameplay side of things .. well at least the parts I could access without running into the war wall 😮💨
@DnoFM

You should become a part of an alliance, even a perfunctory one. It just costs more to declare war. To me those first months, when we were constantly wardeced were the most fun. To lose first ships, to learn how to fly - majestic.

I have played 2 different times. Once before they brought the drone regions in that dropped minerals that i had to specialize skills for as a miner to get before that. It tanked the market and I left as I couldnt afford to play. then I got sucked back in when friends decided they wanted to play. then our new corp and members got griefed and ruined the fun as they learned the games. I started buying accounts then ended up with 12. However it became more like work. I have my carrier so that I can move my ships around. I had a rorqual several freighters etc. I did cut them back to 3 accounts with many solid characters on each. However Im still not sure if I would returrn. The thing i have ALWAYS disliked and disagreed with, is that we can be attacked anywhere. If I want to relax in empire running missions, I should be able to do so without worry that ill be attacked. If I want to run cargo in empire I should be able to do so. I dont expect to get rich. However if I want to relax and enjoy the game I should be able to do so. This is where elite dangerous did things right. It is by far the most beautiful game out there. Its an aspect I always enjoyed. Sometimes I would get lost looking at the scenery. I do miss the social aspect of when in a good corporation. sadly it was hard to find.

Great video. There was one thing you said that was "technically" not accurate. You said that as an Alpha, you can only train up to 5 million SP. While it's true that using the training queue, you cap out at 5 million, you can use the daily gift skill point injectors and/or buy injectors and get an Alpha up to 20 million SP. I have both Omega and Alpha accounts and I have 1 Alpha at 20 million while the others are between 10 and 15 million. And YES, that's "useable" skill points. But other than that, very informative video.

The one thing I found after being gone for 10 years.. The players are easy pickings. As they lack the one skill needed to play. That of being ruthless and cruel. As the first thing you should learn in Eve is everybody wants your stuff. You keep that in the back of your head. You will survive. As nobody is your friend. Unless they live next door. That way if they screw you over. You know where to find them to kick their ass..

Starting race does not matter. You can fly/work for whomever you want.

Ccp wanted scarcity because increasing prices in game also increased plex sales.

EVE requires many hours of gameplay to be successful while engaged in whatever activity you're attracted to...don't kid anybody or yourself. Either you "get" PvP or you don't. You'll learn really quickly where you stand.

i remember back in 2009 or 2008 when i 1st played Eve and dont have money to plex my account. what i did is i created new account every 7 days and keep transfering my isk to the new account and then i got tired with ratting and mining with my cargo ship, i started begging for isk in Jita. people would sometimes give me 1 isk or 1mil isk and some gave me 3bill isk, all in all i beging income surpass 10billion isk HAHAHa.

@Ashterothi Nice video, enjoyed it. :) Have question because I'm considering my 3rd approach to EVE: what is the least time consuming career path, looking for sth like ogame style - when you make most of the progress while being offline - that you should only login couple times per day, check progress of staff, start new tasks and get profit. Is it like industry, PI, making blueprints, trading? What would you recommend?

EVE is time consuming. Maybe industry, but market research takes time.

I recommend staying alpha so all the time you do play you can do things but you don't have the monkey on your back of a subscription until you are ready.

I've come back after a long time off. Its hard to get other miners to trust me. Most won't even start a conversation with me. I offer bonuses to cycle time and range, from my mining foreman. Nobody sticks around more than one day. So much for being a mining fleet in high sec.

I don’t know if null sec is inherently anymore isk generating then some of highsec. You have incursions where you can make 1 billion plus a day on one account, as for mining it’s obviously not as profitable because almost all the minerals are available every where else. Mission running I hear is pretty profitable but I’ve never don’t it. And I get the idea that yeah once your in a null block it’s safe and whatever but that can be said for joining snuffed out in lowsec or deep water hooligans. I think that it’s all relative. People don’t want to take risk so they stay in highsec or move to a null block. But you have to realize your potential isk generating with the situation and play style you want to do. That’s just my take. Have a great day and fly safe o7

Highsec can make more isk than nullsec. Coordination with others, expensive equipment, and dangerous conditions all increase the value of an activity.

I’m very excited to dip my feet in this game, heard about it or seen a few ads throughout my time on the internet but haven’t ever played it, but after this video I’m sold. I’m going to try it out today being an alpha of course! Lol
