I travel alone as a slow traveler and meet many wonderful people wherever I go. I want the experience of a non traditional lifestyle. My previous life was 100% traditional US lifestyle. I love my new location independent lifestyle. One day it will be time to find a home base but not yet. This is far too interesting, growth provoking, adventurous and reverses the clock for me. Great interview, Rob! Andre and I have similar thoughts about 6 months in our home country and 6 months in the Phils. I figure to shut my place in Colorado down around November, when it starts getting cold, and spend 6 months in paradise! My girl doesn't want to come stateside to live, but would come on a vacation, and I really don't think I'd want her to live in the states full time anyways. Reekay says that the dynamics change drastically and the females mindset can do a 180 when all of a sudden SHE'S the hot commodity when she's in the states.. Makes perfect sense.

That is correct - for sure. It happened to a friend of mine. His wife had mental problems. She did not mean to hurt him but she was sincerely becoming paranoid about him trying to do harm to her. She ended up in an ER and they sent to police after him. He - being a hunter - had a few guns in this place - that did not work in his favor. If he had not volunteered to let the police confiscate those weapons for a while - he probably would have ended up in prison. Not fun - nobody's fault - one of those situations where all you can say is - shit happens.

I loved the interview with Andres. Good background and it was an interesting focus around avoiding pre-marital sex. Waiting for the right woman is a cool thing to do. Rob your pointed question about being apart that long at our age was a good one. The living apart for six months at a time wouldn't work for me, but kudos if Andres and his lady are good with it. When Mylene was waiting for her K-1 visa we had a one-time wait of about six months, but to do that repeatedly would be awful. It will be interesting to see how this works out long term. Wishing them both a long and happy union.

@@andrehenriques2 Indeed! To have someone special by your side to wake up to in the morning, to share things with, to share a laugh that is pretty meaningful stuff, especially since, ahmmm, some of us are older and we want to make every day count. I love holding hands with my wife most nights as we drift off to sleep (Yes ,she even puts up with my snoring, which while not epic, I have been told is still pretty loud.). Plenty of time for the two of you to make those decisions. If you two do decide to live part of the year in the USA then after five years of cumulative living in the states, and ten years of being married (Much less if us old dudes drop dead before then) she will be entitled to half your social security benefit at her full retirement age (67). That's a pretty nice legacy to leave behind for her and keep her living comfortably in the Philippines beyond any other provisions you have made for her.

However, with the plan to live 6 months in Canada and 6 months there and given his age, has Andre thought out what would happen if he should get sick and could only live in one place? There are many beautiful women in every country. Glad you prefer the women in Sicily. For me, the women in the Philippines are very beautiful, but the main attraction is the combination of beauty, sweetness, family orientation, a good work ethic, and a culture that accepts age-gap relationships. Again you can find that in any country, but in my experience it is more common in the Philippines than anywhere else. I was 55 and my wife was 37 when we met. That's an unacceptable gap in most countries.
