1:03 I’ve passed that library for years. I remember when it was renovated. I still pass it regularly and have never been in.

The Baldwin theater is beautiful corner of la Brea and Coliseum. I met Roy Rogers there at the grand opening in 1949 when I was 6 years old. My big sister climb the rafters while it was being built. Some of us kids thought it might be an aircraft hanger due to the Quonset style of construction. Nevermind there was no runway.

Wasn't the Lincoln theatre Home of the Church of God in Christ

Hey there! It wasn’t the home of COGIC (which originated in Memphis Tennessee under Bishop Mason in 1907), but the theater was a big part of California influence of COGIC. Bishop Samuel Martin Crouch, Sr., COGIC’s California overseer, used the theater for his assemblies in the 60s A couple of cool links for anyone else who may be interested; library.csun.edu/virtual-exhibit/LAFR/documents/Part4_Devil_2.pdf lasentinel.net/emmanuel-cogic-salutes-legacy-of-bishop-crouch.html

Knew about the Lincoln Theater which Andrea Crouch’s father bought and renamed Crouch Temple and that later became a Mexican Church. I never heard of it however becoming a Mosque. On the other hand there was a historic Elks Hall (please do a video on it) on Central which became an NOI Muslim Temple. Today I believe a charter school sits on this hollow ground.

It was brought by Samuel Crouch not André and Sandra's Father.

Are you saying it’s a Mexican church because it’s Latinos and you just assumed they’re Mexican or you know for a fact they’re Mexican? Just wanna be on the same page.

Interesting information, thank you. Carnegie would fund the rest of a library's construction if the local civic leaders put up an additional $15,000. Most are gone now, but glad that Vernon survives.
