I believe the wooded dishes are from Hawaii. I bought some similar on Maui. They are used to hold nuts or olives or pretty trinkets.

Thank you so much for answering my question, Karen. I often see these at thrift stores and I think they are from the 60s or 70s. They make great trinket dishes and I think they also look nice as small wall art pieces. Thank you for sharing some of your time with me. 💖

It totally depends on your CLIMATE as to whether you can add the transfers without a sealer... I live in Southeast Texas and we have very high humidity. I haven't tried it during the summer yet, but during the winter/spring both, I've had the chalk paint adhere to the back of my transfer and then it was done for... It wouldn't go down on my project and it was just peeling my paint up. This has happened more than once, but I have gotten away with not using a sealer a few times as well. So, basically it's a crap shoot if you live in a hot/humid climate and I suggest a sealer first just to avoid any issues... Your projects are always beautiful and I just love watching you create❤️❤️❤️

Thank you so much for answering my question Paige. I thought that climate may be the issue and I see people can have an issue with humidity when making bath bombs as well. I live in an arid climate in the Okanagan Valley of beautiful British Columbia, Canada. I haven't had any issues with my transfers adhering to my chalk painted pieces so I was thinking it must be the climate that causes the issues for some people so thank you again for answering my question and confirming what I thought may be the issue. I'm happy to hear you enjoy my projects. Thank you for sharing some of your time with me and welcome to my channel. 💖

Your box and little dishes turned put perfect. I love them. You asked what we thought the dishes might have been in their past life. Back in the Seventies they were used to place nuts, etc. at parties.

Hi! I made one of these cutlery boxes over-wish I had seen your video first. It was a pain to rip out all of that stuff inside. Yours is beautiful! I have no idea what those trays were for but they, too, turned out beautifully. Thank you.

Thank you so much Dana! I've had the experience of ripping out the inside as well and I agree, it is a big pain and so time consuming so I thought I'd try a different approach with this one! Lol Stuff was made so much better back then and that's why it's such a chore to rip it apart but the boxes are beautifully made and make great upcycles. How did you make over yours? Someone mentioned the trays were for nuts, olives and trinkets. They make great inexpensive upcycles. Thank you for sharing some of your time with me. 💖

I've done a few cutlery boxes and the inside is a lot of work to remove since things were made and put together so much better back in the day so I decided to try painting this one inside and it turned out pretty good. The iron on decoupage was great and made the top nice and smooth. I'm happy to hear it will help you with yours. 💖

There is a local Dollar Tree here as well and the prices have now gone up to $1.50. Inflation is hitting us everywhere! We also have the Dollarama here in Canada and they started out as a $1 store years ago but are up to $5 dollars on a lot of items now so I always go to the Dollar Tree mostly. All of those craft supplies add up even at a $1.50. Thank you for your comments. 💖
