Hi Katie well 11 months and quiet a few lockdowns later, my darling and very understanding husband made my Mum’s dressing table in to bedside tables. We are still in lockdown so the French polishing will have to wait. I sent photos to my children and sisters like me we are so so happy that we get to keep part of a piece of furniture that my Mum loved 🥰 🥰 🥰🥰

I really like the size of the bedside tables. I would never have thought to cut them apart. Everything is so much bigger nowadays, but the older furniture can be much smaller and a better size for me (I'm 5' tall). Currently I live in a 1964 house. Even the ceiling is lower than most homes. But the small size of the bedrooms is the real issue. I couldn't fit 2 normal size bedside tables on both sides of my queen bed, they wouldn't fit. I have only one bedside table, which is fine because I live alone. However I would like the look of having 2, one on each side of the bed. Your remake of the vanity into bedside tables would work perfect for me. 35+ years ago I had a vanity that looked very much like the one on this video. I used it for my sewing machine because it fit on the middle lowered shelf really well. The drawers held notions and sewing stuff. I gave it away because I wanted a new fangled sewing machine and cabinet. Funny thing is I've never really liked the cabinet or the newer sewing machine (for 35+ years!). New isn't always better. In the past I may have thought you shouldn't paint over wood grain, but really I see now that if you know what you're doing with the wood and fixing damage, painting is such a good way of keeping a quality piece alive and well for years to come. I really love your work on all the videos I've seen and particularly these bedside tables. They would be perfect for my bedroom. Thanks for sharing your salvaged furniture on KZitem.

This is beautiful. I love that you spend the time to make sure the finish is perfect. Not everything has to have a chippy paint finish as others think. Gorgeous, looks even more art deco than the original pieces. Great paint colour choice. Love it.

Yahoo,...I inherited an already cut up into bedside tables set of waterfall furniture. Thanks for the bonds tip and for upcycling ideas. Though I think, in my case, I would love to have mine with natural wood and paint. Thanks for the inspiration. My dad cut two vanities in the seventies when I was a wee tyke. So the second bedroom set is also mine and will be tended too as well. I so appreciate your sharing your knowledge, and for the added base (red oak) build that I think will also be more to my liking. Is it possible to match red oak and stripped veneer (pine?) With the same lighter stain and have them match?

I loved the Eucalyptus color! Very serene. Who would have known those night stands were once a vanity! I was wondering why you used wax on these pieces over poly, considering that they will probably get a relative amount of use. I'm always top coating with a poly because of fear that something won't hold up properly, although I would really like to use wax at times.
