I don't usually like those chunky, squarish 1970s legs, but after you'd worked your usual magic the whole thing looked sleek and elegant, like some kind of scandinavian piece! Oak wood is my favorite of all woods. The yellowness of the table was kinda ugly but Wow Oh Wow! I’m loving it now. It is so pretty. You definitely know your stuff. ♥️♥️😊👍👍🌟🌟

Loved the finish. I have a small table, similar to yours. You have given me the perfect solution for my project. Also, thank you for showing us the difference between the first sanding with 80 grit and the second 120 grit. Quite a transformation.

Love it! Man I worked on a small table like that that I found in the trash I sanded it and painted it all wrong with this thick white stuff so I ended up giving up on it after I ruined all my efforts. Back to the dump it went. 😢 wish I would have seen your vid before I made that big mistake. Feel so bad about it still. You did a gr8t job on this. Looks beautiful 🤩

If you're worried about bleed through, should you avoid a wash? If I were to use a clear schellac before the wash I feel it wouldn't have the same stain/wash effect. Is that correct?

I did something similar to an old oak, solid wood table and still had the yellow come through when applying the poly matte top coat. I sold it anyway. I salvaged a coffee table that was solid oak, cut it up, and made it into something else. It’s still in its raw state. Afraid to proceed.

We definitely had a table just like this at my house from the 90’s, but this piece looks so much better now than it did in the 90’s! They are solid pieces too. I remember dancing on mine like a stage as a kid 😂.

Katie, approximately how much would I regret doing this to my orange oak kitchen cabinets? 😬 they are solid oak and the thought of painting over the wood makes me sad, but I just hate the orange. I would avoid wax on any surfaces that will need to be scrubbed often or could have hot mugs sitting on them.
