I’ve been searching for a Kabar like that for a year now. That’s a great grab. My neighbor has 10 of those old Queen City cutlery original knives. He won’t come off of them. I have 2 of those old imperials and some old German made knives Hen Roosters. You had a great day.

This has become my favorite channel. I’m 20 and have lost both of my grandads who were both veterans (one was in Korea, the other Vietnam). I used to go to flea markets with one of them and always had a good time, in fact one of my best memories I have of him is from just a few years ago where we had to chase him down at a flea market after he had taken off in his truck solo to go shopping! Anyways, this channel is just cozy and brings back memories of them! I greatly appreciate it :)

That set by Knives of Alaska....I paid over $300 for mine, new, in Ft. Richardson AK, at the PX. That was decades ago. Those knives are the BEST if you hunt or guide. BEST skinning knives EVER. Those round tip blades never poke through hides and slice like razors. You will enjoy them, great trade bait once you cleaned them up and sharpened them.

Sometimes you have to hunt for a while to find some deals. I was on the hunt last weekend in Branson, MO. All of the places I went to were firm on their prices. They had knives (Schrade, Camillus, etc. with broken, or even missing blades, most of them covered in rust… for $20+ each I did manage to find a Schrade Clip Hanger CH4, never used, for $7. So all was not lost.

I've found that old estate sales run by the family is the best place to pick up old knives. Anytime you go into the second hand stores they are overpriced. Everyone looks the stuff up on the internet and they think they got gold or something. Also, I very rarely bother with any knife made after the mid 1960's and is not high carbon steel blades. But hey, that's just my opinion.

Dear Knife Doctor, Reaching out to you from Mascouche , Québec Canada , 45 min. North of Montreal, I watch your vids every day , I wonder if i could send you a photo of what i got, My dad was in the Canadian Air Forces , RCAF , he was a what they called a Flying Chef/Steward , He used to accompany high level officers from The UK,the US , Canada and Australia on expeditions in the Canadian wilderness in encampments of grid , So my mom bought him a mess set/kit , It's a Colonial set in a plastic sleeve , that consistes of a knife with one blade and a dual bladed can opener and bottle cap opener blade , also a fork in a knife with three fingers, and a big spoon in a knife ,🤣 excuse my French , i am a French Canadian ! My dad served in the Canadian Air Forces from 1940 till 1966, I am pretty sure my mom bought this kit in the 50's? On all blades it is written " Stainless , Colonial,Prov.USA " The kit is in pristine condition all three knives are in mint condition , not a sign of rust, they shine like new , all handles/scales are like new they shine like out of the store , except for the knife blade that my brother tried to sharpen with a rock and he scratched the blade but not so it even rusted after all those years, there isn't any patina on all blades ? The plastic sleeve that hold them isn't even cracked ! I just wonder how much this kit i worth today , it's almost 75 years old? On the silver plates on the handle it's written Sport pal stainless. Thanks for answering my question if you please, Robert Mandeville , from Québec , Canada 👍

KOA makes a smaller knife that looks like the cleaver it’s called a muskrat great for skinning I won’t get rid of mine and once you get used to it and familiarize yourself with it, you’ll take it on every trip. Also knives of Alaska. The grip is known as sure grip and you choose antler or sure grip anger puts a substantial price on the knife so I only get sure grip
