“Thriller - A Cruel Picture” (1973), AKA “They Call Her One Eye”, “Thriller” and “Hooker’s Revenge” is a Swedish exploitation film starring Christian Lindberg and directed by Bo Arne Vibenius (as Alex Fridolinski).
This film was released in the USA in June of 1974.
This grindhouse film is the story of a girl named Madeline (Christina Lindberg) who is assaulted as a child and becomes mute from the traumatic experience. When she is older she runs into a man by the name of “Tony” (Heinz Hopf) who kidnaps her after giving her a ride and immediately gets her hooked on heroin. Tony forces Madeline into prostitution and in order to hide from her family what really became of her, he writes horrible letters to her parents in her name that are so bad they commit suicide over their grief from what’s written in them.
During her time as a prostitute a “John” stabs her in her eye because she refuses him. From this point on she begins stashing away money and plans her escape. She learns to drive, takes lessons in martial arts as well as the proper use of firearms. She turns the tables on what she was put through and becomes hell-bent on revenge acting as a one woman special ops team! Watch out! They call her One Eye!
“Thriller” is rated by Quentin Tarantino to be in his list of top movies that have inspired many of his characters in his own, such as Daryl Hannah in "Kill Bill" (2003) whose character was based on Madeline.
