While not being your "traditional rape-revenge" movie, I must recommend to you the 2011 horror film "The Woman", sequel to the meh 2009 "The Offspring" and predecessor to the pretty good "Darlin' ". It's a really good movie with an actually brilliant premises of the main villian of the first film, the titular "Woman" is kidnapped by a truly dysfunctional family. Somehow this film manages to make the amoral, feral, cannibalistic killer actually sympathetic against a truly despicable patriarch of the family. Note: if is a slow burn, but it is still damn satisfying the watch the her actually get revenge against her abusers.

Frigga in the black jacket with her black eye-patch, aiming that sawed-off shotgun is a truly great and classic image from exploitation cinema. I knew that image before actually watching the movie, then one day, a friend of mine recommended I check it out. When he started talking about it, I immediately knew the movie he was talking about, at least some of the stills from it. I got the full-on, ass-pounding red cover version. As for the porn stuff, I am not really bothered by it, although it is quite clearly some 2nd unit-style *ahem* insert shots, if you know what I mean. The couple that did the hardcore scenes was apparently a couple that did sex shows back in those days. Another messed-up one like this to check out is The Sinful Dwarf. Though not a revenge film, it is really sleazy, features some similar story elements, and some versions also have a few porn shots included. But hey, it was the '70s and it was exploitation cinema.

I really like how you justify watching movies with serious rape scenes. A lot of horror fans get a bad rep for watching stuff like that, you put it perfectly. It's not like we enjoy watching that, but it makes the payoff of brutal revenge that much more satisfying. So much so that we're really rooting for the assault survivor.

I actually got the Red Limited Edition of this film at home, in my grindhouse cinema collection I'm currently building. It was being sold at Orbit DVD in West Asheville - one of the last few video rental stores in existence with a VERY wide rental inventory and even their own extensive grindhouse/horror sales section - and it hadn't even been opened! (The rare fresh mint DVD purchase in a mainly Blu-Ray/streaming service-dominated world!) What a ride the first viewing was! How could I have missed this one?! If I had to say which is my favorite "rape-revenge" film - and I imagine that some people will insist on asking me at this point - I wouldn't say that it was this one or I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE, but they are definitely at the top of this subgenre, and for good reason... chances are it's gonna be a LONG time before we get the likes of these films again. I had a pretty rough introduction to this type of film at age 19 after watching the original THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT (1972) by Wes Craven, and only recently - like most people before me - have I been able to thoroughly look back at this subgenre and properly assess its worth, of which it has surprisingly plenty. My personal favorite rape-revenge film and grindhouse film series in one remains the FEMALE PRISONER SCORPION series starring Meiko Kaji, followed immediately by Abel Ferrara's MS. 45 with Zoe Lund, both of which happen to be in my Top 💯 Favorite Films... I think it mainly happens to be on the basis of certain themes and content that I'm a little biased in my choice, but I don't regret my picks. Still, Christina Lindberg, now a journalist, totally rocks, and it's only been during the late 2010's that I've been introduced to her work, again thanks to the people at Orbit DVD. Hail Frigga!!!

I want to see this film. The best action revenge films are the ones where the hero becomes just as monstrous and as villainous as the people who wronged them. They have a life lesson. Like in "Jaws" (even though Quint didn't kill people, but he did become pretty fucking obsessive with hunting the shark), "The Last House on the Left," "Straw Dogs," "I Spit on Your Grave," "Ms .45," and "I Saw the Devil" (talk about fast-paced action).

I’ve always felt that this genre of revenge movies were kinda stale. They all play out the same and they all tell the same kind of story. I would actually love it if someone made one of these rape revenge movies but instead of a woman killing the man who raped her; it was a man killing a woman who raped him. A film like that would be a great talking piece on the topic of male rape victims and the total lack of support and care given to them. It would also help raise awareness on the concept of male rape victims, victim blaming and it may even help actual male rape victims come to terms with what happened to them and encourage them to report their rape. Plus, these movies often paint a rather dark view of the world. A lot of these stories seem to make men out to be these evil monsters who will attack you at any moment. Now, I’m not saying that I absolutely can’t enjoy these movies but they often follow the same formula; and that formula is often extremely predictable and seems slightly sexist in some cases. But what do I know, I’m just a rando on the internet throwing their two cents in on this topic.
@TheManiac666
4 жыл бұрын
I can see what you're saying. I think the main reason that women are mostly the victims in this movie is because they are mostly the victims of this crime in real life. But it would help to see movies on the other side, because rape can happen to anyone, of any gender and any age. I've got a movie for you to check out. It's called Fathers' Day and it came out in 2011. It's about a man hunting down a serial killer who rapes and murders fathers. Now I should warn you that it's a very low budget spoof of old grindhouse movies but it's well done. It balances humor with some very disturbing scenes. I'll admit it's not trying to be deep, it's making fun of old Grindhouse movies and celebrating them at the same time. It goes more for shock value than anything else, but it does explore the other side of sexual assault.
