Have you ever run a session that involved Aglarond? Perhaps dealings with a Thayan that might have informed your party about what it's like there? Please consider supporting me on Patreon so I can continue to bring you all new Realmslore and more: patreon.com/EdGreenwood

I ran one years ago dedicated to full Altumbelese independence. This was in the 1300s, which meant they were *really* putting themselves at risk given the actions of Thay at the time, but my players managed to make it work... for a while.

Gods .. it still surprises me the Thayans managed to set up one of their enclaves in Aglarond of all places XD

the 2nd edition Thay boxed set back in the day was our campaign. 💗 Both Rasheman and Aglarond formed an alliance with the party's help. They ripped apart a slave plantation, defeated a red wizard but couldn't advance any further than the first ridge of the plateau. That set the stage for an all out invasion that lasted 7 months. Then the Halruaans got involved.. it was glorious chaos!

I swear if we didnt know better, you'd think he's making this shit up as he goes along. I love how all of this is a living memory inside him, reminds me of Tolkein when he's speaking about Middle Earth.

To me, it's an adventure to find episodes of things that I enjoy in "binge watch " Era. Whenever I watch, it helps me to "like" it on the 1st watch at some point, then I know if I have or have not seen it. And here we go.

Thanks for posting this. Aglarond is an area I'm not too familiar with, in general. This will definitely give me a lot to think about, and sounds like a fun place to set an adventure that's not on the Sword Coast. Interactions with the elves of the Yuirwood would be quite fascinating as well.

@@snieves4 Sweet. This past year I’ve had a group loitering on the north side of the Moonsea. Good times! We’ve since gone to space, though I’d love to explore other parts of Faerun. Lyrabar would be an interesting city to go to as well.

What is this getup? What is this immaculate rizz? So cool, so impressive! Now I just want to see Ed in a wizard robe with a pointy hat and a staff. Maybe pondering an orb. Oh, a man can dream. (Also yes the video is good too)

Great information. My D&D adventuring group is based out of the town of Mesring .(predominantly halfling population) Northeast of the the Yuirwood and southwest of the river Umber.

I’ve been doing some reading on Eberron and I noticed a mention of the Prince of Frost, even though Eberron is separate from the rest of the multiverse. The description and lore seem to be the same as the Prince of Frost in the Realms, but with minor differences to fit the setting. I’m curious which version of the Prince was the original and published first, as well as how much influence does the Prince of Frost have on the Realms. Also, I’d love to see a video about Murghôm.
@edgreenwoodofficial

Murghôm is in the list of videos to do in the future (the spring of 2024, perhaps). The Prince of Frost was first introduced into D&D in the 4th edition Manual of the Planes, before Keith's Dragon article on him, which in turn was before he appeared in the Neverwinter: Sharandar computer game. The Realms version of him first appeared after that, in the Sword Coast Adventurers Guide...but the character is from Shakespeare, and the sources he drew on. In the Realms, he has little influence because Auril detests his intrusion into "her" ice and cold, and there are many others who guard against archfey "meddling too much" in the Realms. His attention isn't bent on the Realms, but rather on the Raven Queen.

Thanks for this. I’ve been working on a publishable version of a campaign I ran where my players are hired to search for the Simbul’s hidden treasures, and knowing more about what Aglarond currently looks like canonically helps immensely.

Great video on the Simbrachs. But quick question: can the Simbul be the next of the Seven Sisters you talk about please? I always thought she was the most intriguing of them all and wondered if there was any secret lore about her that you never got to publicly but are willing to share
