Hal Needham has been dragged by horses, blown up, set on fire, survived hundreds of car wrecks and "taught John Wayne how to really throw a movie punch." His list of movie credits include stunt work on "McLintock," "The War Wagon," "Little Big Man" and directing the mega hits "Smokey and the Bandit" and "Cannonball Run." A legend in the industry, Needham also broke over 50 bones in his body, broke his back...twice, punctured a lung, started Stunts Unlimited and created hundreds of jobs while mentoring a new breed of stuntmen and women. He did it all with a 5th grade education. Two of the industries best stunt coordinators joined Rob Word and a roomful of stuntmen and women, Oct 15, 2014, to remember the laughs, and the danger, of working with their mentor. Billy Burton (stunt coordinator of "Lonesome Dove") and Gary Combs (stunt coordinator of "Blade Runner") recall what it was like meeting Hal for the first time, and the dangerous things that can and do happen while working on action movies. Plus, actor Bo Hopkins ("The Wild Bunch") recalls an incident that took place during the off-hours of "White Lighting," when Needham saved his life. There are thrills, tears and fond memories of the man they call "The Godfather of Modern Stunts," Hal Needham (1921-2013).
