I am a watercolor plein air painter and windy days can be a nightmare (& hard to keep your paper wet enough)! Today we have 50 mph cold winds…not planning to paint outside.🤪 I admire you two for not giving up…and am envious of the many stunning sites from which you can paint. I enjoy each and every video you share. Thank you.😊 (from New Mexico)

Love both compositions! Your colors on buildings are always so interesting and I think you both got the shadow side of the houses right. Cool spot.

Good work both of you, the place is beautiful...Whenever I struggle with a shadow I go with the classic ultramarine/violet/bit of crimson or a burnt umber if the tone is way far from a blueish hue and it tends to be yellow or orange. It always works. And Mike...youtube suddenly showed me your songs from like 11 years ago, JuiceBreaks...nice. You should continue with that channel.

Any tips on roughing in those shapes? You make it look too easy.
@chamberlainpaintings

Maybe I'll make a video about roughing in. I usually start by laying in the shadow shapes using a mixture of ultramarine and alizarin.

Do you use something on your camera to keep the sound quality with all the wind? Or do you just try to record when it dies down?

chamberlainpaintings I don’t think so. When I was there, it was still labeled ft Baker. There is a culinary school restaurant right in the middle of the complex called Murray Circle. Address is 601 Murray circle. I actually found it by accident going from the Golden gate viewpoint on the Sausalito side. It’s not a place that you just can pass by...you’re either lost or going there 😄

I prefer bigger brushes honestly. I usually don’t bring the smaller brushes until the end
@chamberlainpaintings

Same here. I use the smaller brushes with extreme caution. Little brushes have ruined many a good painting. They're dangerous!! 😂

Your're talking about the sides of the houses needing to be darker than the sky, yet why do you have the sky so dark? The sky at the horizon looks pretty light with a little bit of a pink glow. Also, why get rid of smaller brushes? Why would you limit yourself? Do you ever go beyond just painting elementary basic shapes? To each their own, but this type of painting does not make much sense to me. I hope my comments come across as constructive criticism and not as putting you down for your efforts. PS: Please note that I am not a practicing artist.
