I learn little details every time you post. My teacher was really surprised at how much progress I made pulling porcelain recently despite not a lot of time on the wheel. I’d have to credit you with that. Please continue- your discipline is inspiring!

I don't know, Florian... I think I like this color combination with the darker green outside. The lighter green on top of the lip makes sense to me because of the way the light hits it. I so love your work.

I really love your content. It is so aesthetically pleasing! I have nothing to do with pottery myself. But because of your videos, I am thinking of trying it myself. I really appreciate your videos, they are just so calming because of your neat and clean work and your calm narration. I always look forward to a new video and in the meantime I like to watch some previous ones! ❤

I wold love to see you make some pieces that are just for display and show your style in its most extreme, something super angular , something with a lot of edges . It may not be functional but something so interesting as to be kept inca museum and recognisable as a florian piece

Another beauty. That refers to both the vase and the tutorial. I appreciate that no matter how complex the shape, your explanation leaves no step unacknowledged. Even if it's the first time experiencing, one gets the full Florian method--so helpful not to have to scroll back and search for something "more beginner." I also like how you highlight other more specific tutorials you've done--wedging, centering, opening, pulling. It's all there for us. Of course I made it to the end - how could one not?!

Hey, I am a very long time follower. I love you work. Is there a chance you can do a kiln unloading video from start to finish? Additionally, out of curiosity, what is the % of work per firing that are unsaleable or requires reglazing, etc. It would be really interesting from a professional potters perspective as some days i feel as if 50% of my kiln loads end up being bin jobs! Also, any chance you can share your glaze recipes 😂( I suspect that this will be a no!).

Yeah I agree, I probably went with a higher contrast and darker colour for the inside of the vase maybe a darker blue ,or go crazy and full white interior to the vase but I don't know if that would truly be your style just ideas that bubble around in my head

Incredible as always, both the pottery and the videography. I'm curious, what would have happened if that pebble had been somewhere else where it wasn't visible, and the vase had gone into the kiln with it still stuck in there? Would it have affected the longevity of the piece at all, or the glazing?

Floridan, do you worry at all about dust created when you are neatening up the glazework? Do you wear a mask when using a knife or rib to bring the powdery glaze flush?

Lovely piece, and a great video as always. I notice that this time, at around 8:39, you did not turn the wheel just as you lifted off the piece, which I recall you mentioning as a good way to break any seal that may have formed. It there a reason why you did not feel the need to do it this time?
@floriangadsby
16 күн бұрын
@@technohellscapegood catch! Well, as I’d dried this piece out so much with a heat gun, I wasn’t worried about it lifting away neatly/easily/without warping, as it was pretty much leather hard already. So, just wiring it through and lifting it off without spinning worked totally fine in this case.

Very nice. Have you experimented with adding lugs or handles to your vases? I can see how 2 or 3 very simple lugs could really compliment the angles. Also if you don't mind, it looks as if your glaze does have a slight crackle in it, how or why did you settle on that recipe? I'm asking because I have a glaze that appears to have a similar crackling pattern which I like, but it doesn't really impart any additional structural strength to the clay.

Informative as always. I've just started throwing on a wheel and I'm finding my left hand is getting scraped where it is in contact with the wheel, which is less than enjoyable. Any suggestions on avoiding this? Is it as simple as more water?
@floriangadsby
17 күн бұрын
It’s a common problem! Basically, you don’t want to press your hand against the metal wheel head, instead you hold it just above, hovering slightly, with slip/water in between. If you feel your hand grinding, you’re pushing it down too much.
