I had a TX for 7 years and got a CSL DD last year. An upgrade that leaves TM in the dust. Seeing Thrustmaster stepping up is great, but they're still not in the same lane as Fanatec, except for the Sparco handbrake which is the only thing i will keep, because it is better than Fanatecs handbrake. I miss the Sparco rallywheel since i only have a leatherwheel and the Mclaren GT3 (so far😅) , but Fanatec has two to choose from, so it's not a big deal. I don't understand why they aren't making a full metalmade high end series and still have their entrylevel gear as allways, instead of these halfbaked semi DD and wheels.

Ouch! It seems Thrustmaster is not on a good trajectory compared to the competition.

Just got my Evo wheel today and on my T818 I can categorically state there is NO flex whatsoever, I will repeat, NO flex at all, neither on the SF1000. I noticed that you closed the latch with little effort, on mine It took a bit of force to close the latch. I believe almost all these reviews showing flex are using early release T818's.

Great review but the background music is truly awesome. I love me some 80s synthwave vibes.

I agree with a lot of the points here. I am still a console-only gamer (Xbox) and have been for years. Because of that, Thrustmaster was my go-to brand and I have essentially everything they have ever made and overall very happy with their offerings. However, with so many new players in the game, their last few releases (ie T818) seem a bit puzzling when adding price into play. Consoles users are still very limited in terms of options (yes there are more now but still not lots) so I can see those users buying this. On a PC, I guess if you love the T818 then I can see this as being an option but having something like the 599 EVO or a Sparco rim I don’t see the advantage of this. Maybe later on once they release the other add-ons it might make more sense. For now, I think it is a pass for me at what is likely going to be $400 CAD.

In the performance review section, the quick release isn't completely closed. (9:56) Not saying there isn't some flex but this won't help.
@simracingden

I can assure you it was closed entirely. I’ve learned recently that it appears I do have an earlier review unit of the T818, and my understanding is that some of the flex issues have been resolved, and the QR fits more securely on later models. Thanks for the comment and keen eye, though 😉

Love my T818 and T-LCM pedals. Only issue really is the flex in the quick release system, not sure if it's from the wheelbase side or the rim adapter side. Was hoping this more cohesive setup would fix that. Really sad to see that it's still plastic and still flexing. Have been with TM for over a decade, the T818 was a great upgrade, but man they are miles behind the competition.

Yes, the amount of flex is disappointing. They are falling behind the competition.

Weird that everyone say that, I have the Ferrari version of the T818 base that come with the SF1000 Wheel. I never had any Flex. Do you have the Original T818 that first launched ?
@stickybuds05

@@mlachance001 From what I've seen, the SF1000 seems to be pretty tight. I don't have the original T818 (didn't have the first firmware), about 2 months after US release. Wheelbase itself is solid, no noticeable flex when driving, I feel it's only in the quick release though I've installed it to max tightness. Also clicks and creaks (but rarely) when I'm really ripping on it. I was thinking that this new release doesn't look as long, and might be able to handle more torque than the ones that adapt the older style systems to the T818

I'm using a 13" original NRG wheel (took it off my track car) and that definitely has zero flex, might emphasize it a bit more than a SF1000

@@simracingden ah that sucks. i get it now.. i was surprised as i saw similar Sf1000 Ferrari edition with the flex but i got the same just a week ago and 0 flex. it is good they fixed it though!!! i think the reviews should be updated though to be fair with thrustmaster! hopefully there is a way to confirm from your end that there is no flex no more with some newer unit

I agree it's too expensive for what it is. It's not so much the synthetic leather that bothers me, but the amount of plastic and overall build quality don't match the price.
