I changed out my mag springs and followers in my Stacatto P to Atlas; 100% improvement in reliability, Atlas is the best!

This is amazing. Thank you for posting. I’m going to be trying to learn to work on my own 2011. I didn’t expect to find free material this good out there.

This is the only video that gave me the confidence to do this myself. Knowing that you’ve done this on the road with a cheap file put me at ease. Thank you!

WOW, thank you for that, although my firearm is not Atlas, your help with my mushy SAFETY on my Prodigy really helped. This video has me looking at an Atlas gun for my next weapon, so these videos really help and cause people to look at your product. Thanks so much!

Going too far is really easy to do. I am glad it worked out this way, so shooters can see how quickly the gun can become unsafe.

Thanks for posting this. Unlike other videos that make it look quick and easy this shows the pitfall. Plus demonstrates definitively a tiny amount of metal can make a gun unsafe, and how to test for this. Cheers

Actually this is good of what not to do or at least what to look for. Very few 1911 vids show this, its always bam bam done, trigger job.

I have the Atlas chaos. Took it to my local gun smith to have him put wide safety. He said he would have to file to much material off the safety to get it to fit. Claimed to be unsafe, so he milled off tiny portion of the sear. Have u ever heard or done this? Seems to be working fine. I just want it to be reliable and safe.
@tc96z1

MyNameIsMrSwifty that’s not gunsmith-ing. Changing a dimension on the sear to fit the Safety is very iffy at best. The new safety should ALWAYS be fitted and never the other way around. You gonna tell me the original Thumb Safety wasn’t fitted to the sear? kzitem.info/door/PLaGVOx1hS9TFYdXL2ZMRxvYeuL12x7o9j Obviously you are not comfortable with his determination. I would have a new sear and thumb safety fitted properly somewhere else. It may never slip or it could years later with use?

Adam, Could you do a video on making the safety engagement and disengagement more crisp? I picked up an STI and the safety feels mushy compared to my higher end 2011's. Engagement feels dull instead of a crisp "click". A video of tuning the detent hole / tear drop shape in the safety would be awesome.
@AtlasGunworks

Just take a little more off the engagement surface and it should get crisp

Mine would go in but would not move up to safe when hammer fully set and the hammer wouldn't strike with the grip safety engage / trigger pulled , there is scratch marks on that little U shape though , gonna try what you displayed

I'm wondering how to make the detent and positive click up and down better..and smoother
@AtlasGunworks
7 ай бұрын
to have a more positive engagement you can drill the detent hole a little deeper. Make sure your pin is stopping in the center of the hole. To get smother you will need to chamber the hole on the in and out path of the pin.

I just installed an ambi safety in a Detonics Combat Master. The safety is a SIG product and it went into my gun with NO FITTING REQUIRED. The problem is that I have hammer follow down when I release the slide. It falls to the half cock notch (so far). It works fine with the tests you used on this video, but the hammer follow MUST be fixed. What do I do to stop this problem?
@AtlasGunworks

Being able to put the safeties in doesn’t make them fitted. We would recommend a gunsmith at this point.

I know this video is old but after fitting a few perfectly fine i did mess one up. I guess i went too far. Everything function fine however when i have the safety engaged and pull the trigger to test function, the hammer moved back slightly and when i disengage the safety it falls to half cock. Is there anyway to fix that or am i beat?
@AtlasGunworks

The only way to save that safety is to weld more material on it.

I switched to an Atlas trigger shoe/now and now I hat the hammer releasing like at the end of the video when you click the safety off. Do I need to fit new safeties just from putting a new trigger?
@AtlasGunworks

The trigger bow should not affect the safeties to your sear fit. Did you change your sear?
@jvz1448

@@AtlasGunworks No only trigger and bow. I ended up putting an Atlas safety that I had on the left side and it doesn’t do it anymore. Only with the original safety. Very weird
@AtlasGunworks

@@jvz1448 One thing to keep in mind the Bow does position the disco and that will change the relationship between the disco and sear. If that gap is too small the trigger can bounce back and trip the sear. This is one form of hammer follow. Most of the time when you see this the hammer will catch on the half cock.
@jvz1448
6 ай бұрын
@@AtlasGunworks yes that is what was happening. It would drop to the half cock position

you need to do it with the slide on as it limits the upward travel of the safety. you had it at full travel and that probably why it failed.

Letting the hammer fall without having anything to absorb the impact is not good practice.
@AtlasGunworks

Normally I hold my thumb in front of the hammer to catch it before it hits the frame. Letting the hammer hit the frame is not ideal but with quality parts shouldn't cause any issues if it happens once or twice.
