Hey Al thanks for tuning in. Once you get hundreds of hours in one mode it’s tough to switch. All depends on what you want to do with your drone too. I find with my large hands I have a decent reach to pinch and still get at other buttons if I need too.

Flying anything RC since 15+ years, also 700-size 3D helicopters and 40% giant-scale 3D and IMAC fixed-wing and racing quads with the pinch. Works great and smooth when needed. 😉 Haha, truth is even going to Joe Nall I’ve observed the best in the world flying both thumb and pinch in all modes. I’m a good pilot, but nowhere near the Somemzinis and Dahls of the world. I do what’s comfortable for me. Also, side note, in cold weather I use a Turnigy transmitter glove with a large window. My friends always make fun of me, but no matter what grip and/or expo and/or rates I use I can’t move the sticks very smoothly with cold fingers.

I used to be a thumbs pilot yet after starting to fly 3d as well as fly my quads, I have found that pinching is much easier and I can have more precision. I am currently teaching my daughter to fly and have started her off using the pinching method and using a neck strap to help support the radio. Another great video. Keep up the great work!

I'm a thumber (Mini4Pro+RC2) .. Puting center of my thumbs on top of the sticks is secure enough to move the sticks smoothly in all directions. Plus side is that this leave other fingers to press the controller buttons while holding the sticks in current positions.

Hey Bob, I’m in a similar boat. My pinching came over from my glow RC plane days. I did also have a flying wing when I was in college. Man that thing was fun. A simple RX battery and you could fly for hours. There is nothing quite like being able to fly something without an engine. Model or full-scale :). Funny that Ken is also a pincher.

@@Quadcopterguide Yes, I had waited for the "go" or availabaility of "native open tx" to order it ... 200$ incl. bag, battery, receiver from ali express cause I could not find a european offer since frSky forced reseller to stop offering jumper T16 - or they would not get frsky supply. The package arrived in good condition but one of the sticks of switch SA SB was broken. But I got 40$ off to get the spare 8$ and repair it. Looks great. Nice last remote. Spektrum make a nice fully adjustable unit. What surprises me is how toy like the tx are that come with drones to say how much they cost and how much you rely on a good tx. To answer your question.....not got a clue as never really looked what I do when operating a tx lol
@Quadcopterguide
4 жыл бұрын
Hey ARD! Glad you guys survived Christmas and New Years :D. Yes Spektrum was kind of the go to back when i was big into 3D planes. I had a Futaba 7C which i used for years on my planes. 72Mhz style :). The whole RC industry changed quite a bit. This Jumper remote is essentially a Futaba clone from the look and a Taranis clone from the internals from what i've gathered. Taranis is a big brand in the FPV scene. The price of this one made it a no-brainer. I think DJI makes the remotes as they do since most of the logic and computation happens on the smartphone. Allows them to reduce processing needs inside the remotes. They further probably carry the logic to spend a bit less on RCs externally. Plus they are compact and tiny to make them portable. Something about having a full size remote though...
@ardscorner

Quadcopterguide You know when you have a full size remote when you need a neck strap lol. These young folk will never know the pain of changing crystals. But syncing has made things better and worse. Better as virtually impossible to get overlap but worse as in the older crystals did have a broader band width. Any way enough of showing my age....good to have a video from you.

Hmmm... Whenever I tried to pinch, I would put thumb and index finger on the sides of the sticks. Never tried it with the thumb on top and index on the side. Maybe this will feel more natural. Will give it a try. That said, I often fall back to thumbs since I find it hard to control the wheels when pinching unless I take my fingers off the the sticks, which kind of defeats the purpose of fine control. However, maybe with the thumb on top as you do, you can hold the stick in place and then move index to control wheels. Will Gove it a try next time.
