Tim posts a video, I open it, immediately put a like and then I listen.

I am sure this is great news for many aspiring fingerstyle players to get into this difficult style. I will be following closely as I have never, ever watched one of you videos without learning something. Even the pieces which are well beyond my abilities deliver something I can apply to improve my playing. Thank you Tim!

Very good lesson Tim. I do not know anyone locally that is a thumb picker so, I have a lot of questions and you answered many of them in this video. Thank you, sir!

I have tried to use a thumbpick several times, and it's never felt comfortable for me so I never continue using it. One of the more comfortable was the Dunlop light, but it's too tight for my thumb, even in the large size...funny you're mentioning the Dunlop being the ones you use. I tried to put mine in boiling water using 2 tweezers to try and open but that didn't work to open it up, it seems to spring back. I'll try the steam on a tea pot, not sure if that's hotter or not. A heat gun is much higher than boiling water, maybe that would work better. With this said, I just got the Fred Kelly Slick Picks. They have a rounder tip and much more comfortable as well as much smaller in general. The Bumble Bee picks look too big for me, I mostly like to fingerpick, not really a strummer. The Slick Pick is much smaller, Large size feels good for me. I normally like an extra light or light if I do strum, but mostly fingerpick. The Fred Kelly Slick Pick is much more comfortable than the Dunlop for me, just the way it curves over the thumb, not as far onto the nail like the Dunlop. Light, Medium and even Heavy all feel comfortable. This is just my experience. I got a 3-pack that had one light, one med and one heavy. Been using the light mostly.

This seems like a great concept. Loved your Deep river blues and Windy and warm lessons. None finished, yet. Man with a green thumb is in line. I have to agree they are taking me so long just by being so hard. Subscribed on the first video. Looking forward to this series.

I would really appreciate if you could do a video on "House of the rising sun" by Tommy/Chet. Thanks for arguably the best lessons on Tommy's tunes out there!

grat video! i could not understand if the "large", "medium" was refering to the size of the thumbpick or the tchickness. i got the Dunlop L. It feels great in the finger, but i think that something thinner would maybe give me more volume (or more defined, at least) in the bass line with less effort of my right hand... there is some thumbbick like this? because in the music shops, they don't have a lot of different models... i have to buy always online...

Standard thumbpick Dunlop Shell L for me. You could also try (very hot / but not cooking / 90°C) water for bending the thumbpick.

From my experience I noticed that Zookie thumbpicks have more elastic plastic. But they didn't come up to me because of their bevel, which I just drank. The best thumbpick - the one that you make for yourself! As for the thumbpick game, I independently mastered it in three days, parsing yours, Tim, version of Tommy Emmanuel's ''Fuel''
