Not a knock on this wonderful movie but you must never have watched 'Double Indemnity' (1944) ? Robinson co-stars and, while his part isn't a lot of screen time, he burns it up in the time he does have !!

Thanks 4 this. You're correct with who cares what it's about..its Edward G. Robinson. I never heard of this and it produced lots of smiles. I really like finding movies where he plays something other than a gangster. They sure don't make actors like the old ones anymore sadly.

Two actors featured in this movie are remembered for the characters they played in adaptations of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories. Nigel Bruce, memorable in fourteen features made between 1939 and 1946, as Dr. Watson to Basil Rathbone's Sherlock Holmes, and Arthur Wontner as the great detective in five film adaptations of Doyle's work made between 1931 and 1937.

I already saw this at some point. I grew up only knowing Edward G Robinson as the gangster character. Mainly from parodies, like Bugs Bunny and Couragous Cat cartoons and Key Largo, which used to play constantly on sydicated weekend afternoons in the 70s. But since getting into film noir, I much prefer seeing him in more conventional roles. Like this, the two Lady in the Window movies, the Stranger....
