My Father was struck by lightning in Malaysian jungle when doing active service in the 1950s, it was only that he was young and fit that he survived.

@@GracemarieJohnson2763 yes I know, that is what he was told by his commanding officer, dad told me that it happened at night and he was lying down on a hammock and then he remembered like something had picked him up and thrown him about 10ft away.

I am Malaysia. During my childhood got experience lightning struck near me while I was playing guitar behind my bedroom window during raining thunderstorm. Sound was very loud until felt hum sound in my ear more than 5 minutes. The curtain cover my window was burn up as well. I think it is dangerous to be in open space during the event as you might get direct hit.

It's incidents like this that makes me wonder how many people get struck by lightning in the tropics around the world every year.

There are no supercell storms in the tropics! Some storms are just worse than others.

It is the power of God John Vitw, you are being serious indeed. Nothing whatsoever to do with so-called Mother Nature! It is God who orders & is in complete control of the weather. All of us will be accountable to this powerful God one day!

I almost forgot to mention that I actually did get a storm like this just recently on August 17th that I have a video on. It was such an amazing storm with many close strikes but I still have yet to see this level of cloud to ground bolts. I still saw a lot that day though, and to be honest, it mightve been an equal amount but I didn't record every bolt.
