Footage of a thunderstorm that produced a stunning shelf cloud and strong downbursts of wind that reached nearly 90 km/h (~76 mph). Rainfall was also briefly heavy, though lightning was very limited in its appearance (appearing only twice at the West end of the West Island).
The thunderstorm was associated with a weak shortwave trough and warm front at the surface. Ahead of these features was well destabilized air mass due to sufficient solar heating, high humidity, and somewhat limited mid-level cooling. Shearing fields were also weak for particularly significant organized thunderstorms.
