Meteorologist Ashley Renee has your 6:50 am forecast. Good morning and happy Thursday. During the pre-dawn hours, showers were moving along the coastline, but showers will continue spreading inland throughout the morning and into the afternoon. There might be isolated showers in the Baton Rouge area before the end of the morning, but the rain will likely move through during the afternoon. A stationary front over our area will contribute to showers and thunderstorms developing. Most of the rain activity will still be south of the front and along the coast. Skies will be partly cloudy and highs will be in the low and mid 90s. Heat indices will be in the upper 90s for a couple of towns, but most of us will have heat indices around 100-105. Showers may still be around this evening, but rain will gradually come to an end this evening and tonight. Skies will be partly cloudy. Overnight lows will be in the mid and upper 70s. Friday and into next week, we’ll have the usual set-up. Hot and humid weather, isolated to scattered showers and t-storms (mainly in the afternoon) with highs remaining in the 90s. Overnight lows will be in the 70s to about 80. Friday morning, the Greater Baton Rouge area will be mostly dry, but showers and thunderstorms will pass through our area during the afternoon and evening. Saturday and Sunday will likely begin the same way, but there's a slight chance of showers for the weekend. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are still in the forecast for next week. Tracking the tropics: A broad trough of low pressure located near the U.S. southeastern coast is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. It has low chances (10%) of becoming a tropical system within the next two to seven days, but gradual development is possible. Regardless of its development, it will continue moving towards the southeast U.S. coast and move inland by this weekend. No other tropical development is expected over the next 7 days. Thanks for watching. Have a triumphant Thursday!
