Seymour Narrows is a section of Discovery Passage known for strong tidal currents and whirlpools. It was once considered the most dangerous stretch of water on the inside passage of Vancouver Island. Surge Narrows Provincial Park is one of the locations of incredible tidal rapids caused by the convergence of two flood tides. The currents reach 15-16 knots in each of these locations. The Okisollo standing wave is created when the tide floods in. Fast currents create a standing wave upwards of 10 feet.
