Yay! I too have watched a bunch of videos on tying a weaver’s knot but am not yet proficient. Your explanation is great and now I just have to do it a couple of hundred times to get it down. ☺️ thanks for this video, as always.

They used to make knitting tools I can imagine they being useful. However. I always thought that doing all those knots would be nearly as much work as threading and slaying it all again.

I have struggled with the weavers knot, after watching you I realise that I was pulling the wrong thread and failing to make the knot at all….
@curmudgeon66

It took me a while to figure out which longer thread to pull. I probably practiced with scrap yarn a couple dozen times before I tied on the first warp thread

Andy you made amazing fabric as always. I never knew there was such thing as a weaver's knot, thanks for introducing it to me. Would you recommend it as a knot to use when having a broken thread, is it self tightening?
@curmudgeon66
2 жыл бұрын
For a broken warp thread, yes it is a good knot. You initially tighten it, and the tension keeps it tight.

This video really explains the tie on process very well. You do a great job with your videos. Which kind of loom is this you are working from? I love your prayer shawls too. Liked seeing your weaver's knot

@@curmudgeon66 Thank you. How tight do you keep your loom tension and how hard do you beat? I have a tonne of sock yarn that I would like to use for weaving. I have only used 8/2 weaving yarns and want to give prayer shawls a try. TIA.

@@ksisu1324 - this is hard to quantify, I do two things. 1st I use my hands and feel the tension in the warp threads, When they feel right that is what I use. 2nd I have a Louet Spring loom with the moveable breast beam, when the bottom legs of the breast beam are vertical that is usually about the best tension for my weaving. I have a fairly firm beat, I can force myself to beat gently, but normally I have a firm beat.

While some religions (such as Judaism) do use a shawl-like garment while praying, these "prayer shawls" get their name from the idea that while the shawl is being made, the maker prays for the (usually unknown) recipient.

Just another way of doing the weaver's knot (to me a bit easier) if you put the moving thread above the stationary one as shown here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/uamnuZ2ienmZg5w
