they are just called "kimono clips".There are some Japan-based sellers on ebay that can mail you a set of clips -- they're not expensive

I love watching 1960's samurai films. Always wondered what was going on with the ladies dress belts. Looked like they had a water bottle, or a pack of sandwiches stuffed in there. But now I know, thank you. However, the diameter of the dress doesn't look functional? And what about going to the loo, it's going to take half an hour? Well that said, next is hats as people always seem to be walking around with some ridiculously over the top lampshades as hats. Apparently, they had something to do with their status. Anyway, you wouldn't laugh at these hats unless of course your name was Zatoichi!!! Update, yep just as I thought. had a look at the Japanese straw hats and many look absolutely stupid and probably on purpose to start a fight. Check it out, monks literally walking around with waste paper bins on their head. Still when in Rome! If everyone is walking around with a stupid hat on, you're going to look really odd if you don't have one. Anyway Japan is such a cool and rich place. Thank you for the informative video.

hey can someone clear something for me? So in minute 04:00 the lady in the video said something like “that’s not how you would traditionally do” talking about the bow. can someone please tell me how to wear it in a traditional way?
@emilyporter1186

She shows you how to do so right after. The non-traditional part is wearing the bow with the tails out

In other words tie your shoe laces. Alternatively buy a belt and do it up in 2 seconds.

The heading is completely wrong. This is for tying a Yukata. Not a Kimono.
