Destroyers are a relatively light and fast ships designed to counter the threat of small craft like torpedo boats and later aircraft and submarine pose to larger ships.
HMS Lightning was an L-class destroyer of the Royal Navy. She was launched on 22 April 1940. Lightning was assigned to the 19th Destroyer Flotilla with the Home Fleet at Scapa Flow. She was joined by her sister ship Laforey.
An L-class destroyer and the next step in the development of the J-class ships. In comparison with her predecessors, she had fewer torpedo tubes and new, more powerful 120 mm guns housed in turrets with a design that enabled them to fire at aircraft. They were the first Royal Navy destroyers to ship twin torpedo tubes, effectively doubling their outfit.
The L-Class Destroyer serves a variety of roles; Ranging from shore bombardment, anti-air and naval superiority thanks to its wide variety of weapons. And Lightning played a key role in many operations during World War 2.
The ships of the L class had single funnels, a tripod foremast and a short mainmast just aft of amidships. One feature of note was the bridge design. All Royal Navy destroyers shared a distinctive wedge-shaped face to the bridge, incorporating a bulletproof wheelhouse, raised in order that the helmsman could see over the guns.
The increased height of the new gunhouses of the L class meant that the wheelhouse was raised further, and the sloped roof of the wheelhouse, to direct the airflow over the compass platform, was almost flat. This feature was unique.
The L class, also known as the Laforeys, were approved under the 1937 Naval Estimates. Four of these ships (Lance, Lively, Legion and Larne) were built with 4-inch - 100 mm armament instead of 4.7 inch. Six of the eight were war losses, with the surviving pair being broken up in 1948.
Throughout World War II, the Lightning had served in units with warships like Ark Royal, Valiant, and Warspite. Lightning sank on March 12, 1943, after taking two torpedo hits from German motor torpedo boats during an operation to intercept a German convoy.
Black Lightning is a very effective destroyer in the game. It is a destroyer that can be used in many areas that require competitive play such as tournaments. They are the same type of ships as Cossack and Lightning. However, some of its skills are different. Black Lightning is suitable for playing in a style that we will call "hybrid" in the game. In other words, you can continue with both torpedo boat and gunboat game styles.
It is a very solid destroyer with good maneuverability so that you can dodge both shell salvos and torpedoes. In addition to 4 Level 2 smoke generators and 2 sonars, Black Lightning also has a Level 1 Rapid Reload. This is an effective feature for destroyer 1vs1 dogfights.
It forms the basic destroyer line in the game with sufficient concealment, sufficient torpedo range and number. If you do not know where to start with destroyers, the answer to this question will be British Destroyers for me.
As gameplay, this time I will present you a lost match. We will talk about how to play a destroyer match that enjoys the game while losing and does not give up the fight.
In Ranked Battles, in this domination South Islands map, the destroyer which repawned near to areas C and D, has a very difficult job. Usually, the support coming from behind becomes difficult due to the islands in between. I think it is a good gameplay in terms of showing how to develop an effective strategy here.
And I think it is a good example of the "hybrid" game style we are talking about. I am Lord Jim and I prepared this video with the contributions of KontAdmiral. If you want to see this type of content, don't forget to subscribe and like it. see you next time!
