The 4-3-3 is one of the more popular formations in modern football, thanks in part, to its use by Rinus Michels at Ajax in the 1970s. And has been passed down, via Johan Cruyff at Barcelona, to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
The 4-3-3 is typically seen as an attacking formation, and often used by coaches who look to dominate the ball. But while it has its strengths, there are weaknesses too.
