@theSkin_of_a_Killer_Bella

I mean, besides the fact that your art is typically for yourself at the end of the day- i feel like the people we most want to share our art with, that it connects to most, is other artists. Other artist, aka millions and billions of people, aren’t coming around to see AIs. Aren’t we there to see each others work, stories, journeys, and especially to learn something new? What are we gonna learn from an AI? Can we have discussions about the piece and it’s creation? Do we get to see the ups and downs, the behind the scenes etc? Yk, the “life” behind it? At the end of the day, I’m sure many people (whether an artist or not) come for the life behind a piece and not just a pretty picture (I mean, think about art museums- literally centered around the history of art). You could just go on google to find stuff like that. There are things AI can do, and things people can do. And considering the amount of people that aspire and look up to artist, you’d think the masses “turning their back” on actual artist would be difficult (as we can empathize etc). But let’s also run it back to what I said earlier. Like already stated in this thread- unless you’re really only in it for the money, isn’t art mostly for yourself? Don’t you pick up a pencil or whatever because _you_ want to create?? _You_ want to express what’s on your mind, and like what Papi Ethan said- you also simultaneously put yourself into your work. I’d love to share my ideas and stories, and if I do I _know_ there will be people that will be willing to listen (I mean, Ethan just created an entire website for it lmao. There’s been discords and many more for it too). But first and foremost, I would just love to get what I think onto paper. Why would I need an audience, permission, and/or approval for that?

Additional Tipp: Do not only see TikTok as a inspiration tool, view it as a Playground (especially if you dabble in the animation realm) Personally TikTok has inspired me to dabble into Animation more. How? There are a LOT of trending sounds someone could use and it's an endless list of resources that you could technically use for Animations (Same applies to Reels by the way. If we talk about cross promotion and stuff). Most of the sounds are 7 to 30 seconds long and isn't as overwhelming as for example, planning and animating a music video from the beginning to the end. Hi you don't know me but I just wanted to stop by and say that no matter what your mind is telling you about your art skills, do NOT believe the negativity. Generally, we tend to be the meanest to ourselves because the voice in our head is a combination of all the toxic things people have said to us throughout our lives. Like, a why do you think that your art is not good enough for your age? Who told you that? Who created the gauge that tells us that we have to be at a certain skill level by x year? Everyone learns differently and even if there are high schoolers who are literal art gods, that still has nothing to do with you because your journey is different than theirs. No one knows what they had to do to get where they are. Maybe their parents sent them to art camps for years in a row when they were younger. Maybe they got their first digital art tablet when they were 8 and had access to lots of learning resources. Maybe they were obsessed with painting or had an insane level of consistency? And let's not mention that there is the right practice and the wrong practice. Probably they were fortunate enough to follow the right schedule that would allow for great art gains. Then of course there is the little issue where a lot of artists do not show their process. We don't see how many times they failed or labored to get where they are. We see the results and compare it to ourselves and feel like we've failed. You have not failed. And don't you dare give up. You're only a senior in highschool. You are young and you need to grab this time before you enter the workforce that will sap your time, motivation and energy. Just think about it... If you discipline yourself, build a routine, become consistent, reward yourself for your determination and never ever give up, you can be absolutely amazing in six months! Set goals and achieve them. If you fall into comparison and mediocrity it will only make the depression worse like a toxic cycle you won't be able to get out of. Believe in yourself! Go brave! Compare yourself to no one but the past you! And good luck with your art journey 🙏

Also be careful what artists you surround yourself with, too many artists online approach art as a chore, as an inconvenience, as something painful, hell yeah it can be! But if your approach is making you think of art as a burden, obviously you won't want to create. Relatable content can be nice, but you will feel a lot more passionate about your art once you realise MOST people make relatable content, which means you see a discouraging or negative post every few minutes when scrolling.

People think a Utopia is a world where we don't work at all. But what we need is meaningful work. Delegating the repetitive meaningless task serves for us to enjoy the process of discovery, growth, and connection without obstacles that cool off our iron. To delegate your freedom to sit, grow soft & stagnant is not an enriching experience for humanity. The ratio of consumption for inspiration to meditation to execution is a hard juggling act. This is something I struggled with the second I started university. When I was in highschool, I used to be in a lot of art communities and I was drawing a lot and interacting with many people. As I slowly turned 18 I started to follow a more “Realistic” path in life. Everyone didn’t seem to like me pursuing art so I went to med school in uni and absolutely hated it. I ended up dropping out the first year. I was really depressed during that time, i just consumed myself in video games or endlessly watching yt videos, I’d try to draw but It didn’t feel fun. I try to talk to my art friends but I couldn’t keep the conversation going. I just ended up shutting myself from the world, until I got the inspiration to create again. Now I’m just very dedicated to becoming a full time artist, I just can’t see myself working on any other field, I’m just really happy that I found the spark again. I still struggle with making friends and interacting with a community but I’m slowly getting the hang of it again.

One thing I saw on Tumblr: There is a difference to having fun and being satisfied. One person even interjected by elaborating how the neural networks in our brain to feeling fun and feeling accomplished/satisfied are completely different. The gist of it is basically you have to have both. You have to have fun time to relax and also challenge yourself so you can feel accomplishment. Artists that go full fun and no accomplishment can end up not making art, while those that go full accomplishment and no fun can end up burnet out.

Ive been debating back and forth about taking my art journey a little more seriously and actually start cracking down on the basics/foundtions and get to improving. Maybe even starting a channel to document that journey. But, I get so anxious and nervous about it that I turn to whats east. The dopamine. It's been bothering even more lately and here's Ethan, bullying me into getting back into it.
