This would be a cool Etsy product, but I don’t believe that it needs shark tank investors…
@rolfs2165
7 ай бұрын
Yup. At most they'd need someone to lend them 10-15k to get an injection mold for the hooks produced, but once you have that it's cents for each. And considering they already have a lot of customers with their cases, I don't see why they'd need a massive marketing campaign either. Just put it on your shop, tell your existing customers and let word of mouth do the rest. Then again, these days "being an entrepreneur" too often isn't about making a good product and selling it, but hyping up your company enough that it gets bought for enough money to retire in your 30s …

I don't know I kinda disagree. If the product is selling well than shark tank could be the perfect way to scale up the business or decrease profit margins by bulk ordering more materials. Also yes the exposure though tiktok seems to be helping a lot with that. However they talk as though they don't really have any sales yet so Etsy would probably be the best start.

Yeah. At best, it's heavily biased based on the numbers that benefit them the most. If you just think about it logically for a minute. Not all people who own make up even buy an organizer or they repurpose other items for it. And most make up organizers I've seen were very cheap. In comparison, people will buy a crap ton of make up. Some of it is cheap for sure, but there are also very expensive products. Many who are really into make up will buy more that they can ever use. Most of it isn't displayed or organized. Not to mention that a good portion of make up bought is something that has to be constantly restocked, like foundation, so it's not like every purchase will mean more space taken on your shelf. EDIT// Oh damn, I just realized this was specifically about jewelry. I don't know why I thought we were talking about make up. But it's very similar to jewelry organization. While it may not be something you restock (I was gonna call make up consumables, meaning they are used and run out, but I know that's the wrong word), jewelry is even more expensive.

@ysodora8030

However if your into decoden, which is specifically over the top in its aesthetic, wouldn’t the clean look of these products be unappealing? I mean if they at least used colored or opaque acrylic they could offer it in multiple options to suit people’s aesthetics, with the added benefit that dirt and scratches aren’t nearly as visible on stuff that isn’t made to be crystal clear. From the last few years we’ve all come to know all too well how awful acrylic can look when it’s in high traffic areas. So for people who do have enough phone cases to want to display them, they probably switch them out frequently, which would mean the product would have to hold up to having the cases taken on and off of it. And I kinda doubt that it would look nearly that nice once it’s covered in fingerprints and nail scratches…

I don't think they're 100% lying but the show was only filmed in Vegas during the pandemic, everything points to production being back in LA including the live premiere in front of a studio audience they filmed this season on the LA lot. They have public casting calls at inventor type trade shows (Vegas hosts a ton of trade shows) where people meet with producers to test their pitch. From there they select who *might* be on the show. They overbook business owners to account for vetting, scheduling, how interesting the pitch is, what kind of deals they give out each season, etc. So even if they actually got called in to do the actual show it's possible they won't be on it. They're kinda jumping the gun talking about it at all imo

This seems like a product that would do well on a small selling platform such as Etsy where they could be made to order for the niche market of interested buyers, it’s the pitching of it to a show that’s specifically for mass-market ideas where it feels like they’ve gone awry. That said maybe they just did it for exposure, especially if they make it to an episode that airs, which is smart. I do have to wonder if they were brought on, if true that they made it to the show, for their personalities and less than stellar facts and numbers since the show does like to bring of products to pretty much be laughed at by the sharks.

ive seen the comments baout decoden cases, but guys lets be honest, these stands have a "minimalistic look," they are made of acrylic vinyl and the hook are SUPER SHALLOW and there's no bottom hooks, not to say if you dont mount it to the wall you not getting a base, if you put anything heavier than tissue paper on it the entire stand is going to tip over and destroy your delicate decoden cases. it took 3 years because theyre not product designers, they dont know what theyre doing so they have to make way more prototpyes than a reputable designer wouldve needed, not because it's a genius idea

i think this would be cool if you displayed more things. like a hook for a spare phone case if you wanna change it up or have a cute one instead of protective one or match your outfit that day it could be fun, but like have one spot for a spare case, one spot for keys? for something else, a little shelf part? like make it useful

tbh this isn't even an organizer, it's a display board. An organizer would be like a book with pages to turn, or a box with different compartments, so you can actually organize the cases.

Could be cool for like artsy phone case popups or something idk? I don't see a lot of personal usage for it but I could definitely see a market in the commercial sector. That being said I feel like most of that would be done in house by a business if they wanted something like this.

at some point, someone needs to create a "tactical" phone case where you install it like you're swapping mags in CoD.

I think if it wasn't just a hook for phone cases but also for clutter like keys they could go the route of "you can customise your own" and push it onto kids

this is when i’m learning ppl switch between phone cases and don’t just use one until it gets too dirty/warped/broken and then buy a replacement

Seemingly demonstrating that you’re just eyeballing the manufacturing process isn’t great when your market is obsessed with organisation.

i only ever have a single clear case for my phone and then i can just put whatever i want in it on display. versatile if my tastes change and nice to be able to have constants in design through the last like three phones i've had :) couldnt imagine needing more than one phone case tbh

My ex had a bunch of phone cases and would swap based on her outfit or her mood. I can see people into fashion wanting a product like that.

I've seen some comments saying how this would be good for phone case sellers, which maybe... But most phone case sellers I've seen have a wall of shelves that are literally the exact size for the phone cases so they can be stood up and displayed, no need for an acrylic stand with specific tiny hooks. Although, maybe a better product would just be to sell the hooks so they can widen their target audience of buyers.

Pinely, I think she meant "argument" as in the argument they will present to the investors on Shark Tank, not an argument between people (a fight) lol

I think it's undeniable that the market exists...not sure that the market is large enough to warrant tons of investments. Def makes sense as an additional product for a phone case business, just not a standalone

To be fair a lot of people go on shark tank for a free ad with no intention of making a deal. People will even accept a deal to make their product look better and reject it behind the scenes. So pretending to go on shark tank is just the next level of that grift

i know someone with 4 phone cases, purely by accident, theyre original one started to yellow because it was clear, they bought a replacement and just didnt put it on, they got one as a present and then they got another one because it was like 1 dollar and really pretty.

i can see this being a handy organizer for people who like to use their phone cases as an accessory rather than protection. im sure there are plenty of people who like to switch out their cases based on their outfits or mood or whatever. im personally not that kind of person, i invest in a solid otterbox case and a good screen protector and that usually lasts until i get another phone. anyway, as one of the top comments already said, this is a good product but the demand isnt high enough for it to be a shark tank level investment. i can appreciate the amount of thought they put into the design for inclusion of all kinds of phone cases.

I have 3 phone cases right now, a clear one that I really like the look of and I can put things in, a MagSafe one that’s like super durable and I take on hikes and stuff, and one that has a photo of garfeild on it. They all just live in my desk drawer

8:22 yeah 80% own more than one phone case because more than 80% of people have had more than one phone in their lives, I guess I technically have 6 phone cases because I haven't thrown away my old phones, however they are on the phones and they are staying on the phones. Not to mention they are all pretty beaten up, discoloured and would not look good displayed anywhere.
