If you can make yourself laugh, chances are, there are people out there who share in what you find funny. A lot of comedic failure comes out of people just observing, and doing only what they think people will find funny. Sure, that can be successful, but it's usually lifeless, try-hard stuff. I see a lot of standup shows, and it's something you pick up on after a while. New guys trying to appeal without understanding the nuances of it all. They'll get to the mic, and their first joke starts off with "You ever been with a woman who..", (exactly those lines, soo many times) and you know immediately that they're gonna bomb...and they do damn near every time. But boy is it funny in a different way.

Vic and Bob are two of my heroes. I actually discovered them a while after TnE, about 6 or 7yrs back. They do remind me of each other, although they are quite distinct, imo. The only thing that unites their material, in my mind, is the surrealism. Vic and Bob were the masters of a long line of surrealist comedy but Tim and Eric took it to a whole other dimension. They actually have a lot of material. Tom Goes to the Mayor, Nite Live, Awesome Show, Billion Dollar Movie, are what springs to mind, maybe a few other things. Tim has a weekly podcast/yt show called Office Hours Live on Wednesdays. I take it youre a brit? Thanks a million for Vic and Bob. I still watch them. That variety type show they did is some of my all time favorite comedy
