Check out the Revisionist history podcast episode entitled "The road to Damascus" to learn what this guy is about. He seems to care far more about the machinations of reporting and him getting a front page story than the ethics or broader consequences of his work.

Thanks Marco. I have been reading fifty five years...intensely trying (and succeeding often) to discover/find honest fine investigative reporters telling the truth about this country since the mid 1800's and on I guess. I wish a movement would begin, and have success in taking the most crooked, evil creep J Edgar Hoovers name off the FBI bldg. What does this say about this country that this FBI leader, worse than any mob character, reigned for 48 years and intimidated presidents so they would not be taken down one way or other. We live in, we have a fascist, warmongering land out to overtake the globe to our satisfaction and Americans are either just blind, deaf, ignorant or plain do not give a damn. Before & after JFK we had nothing or nobody as president or most all of Congress that was/is honest, but subservient to Corporate America.CIA and Military. Let the doom of our hell on earth finally stop all the evil. We have instigated/had wars, spending trillions, killing millions horrendously since T. Rosevelt.

In german a 'Weiner' doesn't make vine, that would be a 'Winzer'. Weiner is either the austrian word for a vino/drunkard/alcoholic or someone, who laments for money at funerals (weinen - to cry/ to weep)

Do we know if it wasn't the very common immigrant name mispronunciation then mis-spelling, (German ei is there pronounced long i, and ie is ee , thus its conceivable Tim's explanation holds, due to immigration official mispronunciation/mispelling?)

@@chuckbeattyo That's very much likely - who'd argue with an immigration official! You'll never got a second chance to make a first impression; as they say...

That comment is a bullseye. When you criticize an honest man for telling the truth, just because you support the scum that he's telling the truth about, you show us all what a filthy crumb you are. And Muller worked for you and your civil liberties anyway. You're welcome. You people are the worst, and don't deserve to reside under the umbrella of freedom this country stands for. Lucky for you, life isn't fair, and you won't get what you deserve. I wish I could personally give it to you.

Tim Weiner wrote a story on the NY Times, WELL KNOWING that as a result of this, the man he wrote about was going to get killed . You can hear the story on Malcolm Gladwell's excellent podcast Revisionist History. The episode is called " The Road to Damascus". I am absolutely appalled by this man. If he doesn't show any remorse, I wish with all my heart that his end be like the end of Ivan Ilyich. You can have all the power you want now. But in your death bed you will have to face your CONCSCIENCE.

A man that had committed terrorist attacks against American Citizens. The CIA should've never gotten involved with a terrorist. Imagine being a family member of someone that was attack by his group, how would you feel?
