Embedded in long-standing tradition, the Portland Timbers feature a mascot unlike any other. Free of costume, big feet, or cartoon-like gimmicks, the Timbers’ mascot is an authentic outdoorsman. With his chainsaw in tow, Timber Joey creates a one-of-kind atmosphere at Providence Park. Since taking over for Timber Jim in 2008, Webber hasn't missed a single match, carrying on the club’s match-day traditions with an inspirational charisma, which can bring the crowd to its feet with a quick rev of the chainsaw. He leads the beloved match-day tradition in which he saws a slab off a log following every goal and presents the slice to the goal-scorer in a post-match ritual. Joey Webber was born and raised in the timber town of Philomath, where he attended the School of Forestry and competed in rugby and rodeo. Webber is active in the Timbers community outreach efforts, joining players and staff in visiting hospitals, schools, and charity events around the state. He legally changed his name to Timber Joey Webber in 2015.
